Overall very good experience during the stay. However, the initial check in was a bit disappointing. I needed a room with calm surroundings due to work and sleep but was initially assigned one above the evening bar with live music. After some discussion in reception I was given another room, but that proved to be occupied. The reception eventually found another room in the back but upon arrival at the floor the key card failed. So the initial arrival after a very long international flight was below standard. I have to say that one of the receptionist understood the predicament and solved the issue. Apart from the initial arrival, the rest of the stay was very good!

My experience unfortunately fell short of what I expect from a Fine Hotels & Resorts property. It started at check-in. I arrived at noon and was offered room 1017, a family suite, as my upgrade, but was told it was not ready. Later at 2pm I was offered a different room (1269), which did not feel like an upgrade. I was also surprised because I’ve never stayed at an Amex Fine Hotels property that didn’t accommodate early check-in when possible—especially when I later saw other guests being checked in and taken directly to their rooms as early as 8am. Pool service was also disappointing. The attendants barely spoke English, did not review the menu with me, and it was difficult to get their attention. Breakfast each morning felt chaotic. Guests had to stand in line just to order eggs, which is not something I’ve experienced at a five-star hotel. Housekeeping was another issue. On my first day, my room was not cleaned despite leaving at 9am and returning at 5pm. I had to call to request service. At checkout, I was given an incorrect bill that charged me for the entire stay. I had to point out the error myself and there was no apology. It’s disappointing because the hotel itself is beautiful. The restaurant food was excellent, and Manilo provided the only truly standout service during my stay. Unfortunately, overall the service did not meet the standards expected of a property at this level. I will be notifying Amex. Cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.
