I stayed 1 night at the end of August. The hotel public areas are pleasant and the staff mostly spoke English(rare in Brazil) and were pleasant and friendly. The check in process was extremely inefficient and took nearly 45min to register ending in no room available until an unknown or unspecified hour. The single most important issue was the lack of soundproofing between the room(from above) the guests in the room above decided to move furniture and drop heavy things and jump from beds throughout the night until 3am. I called the reception around 1am to complain but they did absolutely nothing. You capsule also hear the toilet flush from the room upstairs. The beds were comfortable but no use when you can’t sleep because of the noise generated by the people in the room above. Hotel is quite dated and breakfast was average. Not good and not bad. I expected the breakfast to be fantastic so it was a disappointment. For a 5 star hotel the breakfast should’ve been fantastic. Overall very upset and disappointing for a hotel that cost nearly us$600 for 1 night. Zero value for money and service and comfort leave a lot to be desired.

The moment you arrive those gentlemen in the top hats warmly welcoming our family to paradise! In this case it’s usually Raphael and Alfredo, always helping with doors, bags, water or just a friendly greeting. On to the Front seat, where Daniel Medeiros takes care of our every need at any time during our stay, a true professional, kind, caring and so happy to help our family any time we need. After check in, it’s on to the 4th floor gold club, where Thiago Cuto provides 5 star services, wonderful English and some Portuguese lessons while we enjoy homemade cocktails and a beautiful view of Copa beach! Back to the 4th floor gold club for breakfast where the Davi always serves us with a smile! Thank you to the staff of Fairmont Rio for making us feel home away from home!

We were delighted when we were told we had been upgraded to an ocean view suite. It was sheer luxury & we definitely made the most of it. The suite was gorgeous, the views were spectacular, from the complimentary flip flops to the use of the designer beach bag (which I subsequently purchased 2 of) we wanted for nothing. All the staff, from the doormen & service team right through to the reception staff were exceptionally professional & polite. We will definitely be coming back!

Hotel location is great, and staff service was outstanding on most occasions. Noise level in the room (both from other rooms and outside sources) was bothersome at times. Lack of a desk made efficient work impossible.

We had high expectations regarding the hotel’s comfort and level of service. There was no information provided about the renovation work on the terraces, and many of the staff showed a rather low level of service-mindedness. For example, at breakfast, several staff members stand with their backs turned when guests arrive and need to provide their room number. The menu with items that can be ordered from the waiter should also be provided in writing on the tables, as not all of the waiters are able to clearly explain all the available options in an understandable way.

The Fairmont Hotel Rio was the best hotel I've stayed at in the world. It was accommodating and we received excellent service during our stay. Everyone was exceptional. We had an issue with the room we were originally assigned and the the front desk attendants took care of it immediately by moving me to another room. Housekeeping made our rooms immaculate everyday. The attendants outside were pleasant. They greeted us and opened our car doors everyday.. We were also able to get a late checkout. It helped because it gave us time to finish packing after four hours at Christ the Redeemer. The Fairmont was my home away from home. It was conveniently located between Ipanema and Copacabana. When I return to Rio, the Fairmont Hotel will be my home of choice.
