A comfortable place with a beautiful location and a wonderful hotel staff. The swimming pool is very suitable for children as well as adults. Excellent care and attention to children—you truly feel like you’re at home.

Meh. Disappointed. We’ve stayed at many other Fairmont hotels and the Rio location doesn’t compare well. Prices: 5-star Room cleanliness: 3-star Service: 3-star The furniture needs a cleaning (see sofa pic). The bidet faucet is broken. Our ocean view room includes a trumpet playing reveille loudly just across the street at 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00 AM. I asked about changing rooms and was told there were no suites available. Room service was asked yesterday to clean the bathroom floor (pickup broken glass) and didn’t bother. Today, no water provided, so I purchased some in the coffee shop. Our check-in and interactions with the concierge were similarly disappointing. The wi-fi works only intermittently. One nice surprise was the gym. Large space and ample machines for a workout.

We had an overall great experience. A little details that needed to be corrected were: very long check in with lots of info you don't need after a long flight, the staff does not 'read' you at all; quite messy housekeeping who puts your staff in what they believe is their 'order' (we could literally see the difference in shifts); not very friendly hostesses at breakfast (it always felt like you are begging them to seat you); some staff at time have been a little direct... we won't mention, but we believe service culture at the hotel of this class could be better.
