Novotel Bali Benoa 5 stars

We stayed for 4 nights and booked 2 rooms and I felt very misled that the hotel advertises their rooms at 48 sqm but this includes the outdoor patio. It's so hot and filled with mosquitoes that no one would want to lounge on the patio. Rooms are thus very tiny and luckily we were mostly out. Breakfast here was very delicious and the breads and pastries are of good quality. Ala carte dinner at the restaurant was terrible, so skip and go outside to eat some decent food. My main gripe is my room phone was always spoilt so I could not call for things I needed. One of the nights, there was a thunderstorm and phone was not working nor was there an umbrella in the room to seek help from reception. I'm glad there was no medical emergency.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this resort - as Accor Members we have stayed in numerous properties in Bali and have been somewhat spoilt by the Sofitel. This time I needed 4 bedrooms as was travelling with my two daughters, one partner and one octogenarian Mom. So Sofitel was out of budget. We like to kick off our Bali trips with a bit of a “decompress” in a resort. The old “drop and flop”. I looked at the various options and settled on Novotel Bali Benoa, Well, this resort did not disappoint. Rooms - we were in the garden wing - were spacious and the aircon was perfect. Beds are large and comfortable and the bathrooms modern and lovely. We were greeted with a wonderful welcome message, dessert plate and fruit bowl , along with some champagne and Bintang my sister had organised from the USA. Bless her soul. All the wonderfully arranged by the staff. The pool at the beach is where we spent the most time, even though there is a pool in the garden wing (it’s full sun so tends towards being warm). It’s absolutely lovely - lots of loungers, great poolside service and prices for cocktails and drinks were really reasonable for a resort. Breakfasts were plentiful with something for everyone. Too many options to be honest. The spa was wonderful. A massive compliment to management for hiring and training exceptional staff - everyone was so genuinely friendly and helpful. The good thing about this resort is that you can head out the gate, and walk a couple to hundred metres to local warungs and restaurants. We were sad to leave but would definitely return.

The village surrounding the hotel is looking rather sad, a product of the pandemic, but signs of life are starting to appear. The main pool and some rooms in the hotel have been recently renovated, the gardens are well maintained and overall the property is in great shape. The breakfast is still a standout, the restaurant menu not so special, some improvement is required. Staff as friendly as ever and housekeeping excellent.
