Since the hotel is neighbour to the congress centre, it is very practical to stay there if you are attending a congress. My room was large and good in all important aspects, except that the pillows were too stiff. Another disadvantage was that internet connection was very slow at certain times. The room temperature was comfortable despite some days were hot outside. I was disappointed about the restaurant, serving raw meat (as is normal in France) despite I asked it to be well done. The menu was not very interesting either. But I had some good drinks in the bar and the breakfast was fine (although that was not what my Asian colleague thought). The staff in the reception was always very polite, attentive and helpful, simply the best you can find.

The hotel was next to the congress, so it was very convenient for me. The reception/front desk staff were very helpful and patient. They took time to attend to my requests despite me not knowing French and visiting Nantes for the first-time. Overall, a great experience. Thank you, Novotel, :)

Awful experience. We attended before check in to advise the front desk we had arrived. No issue that room was not ready before check in time but stunned to be phoned later that evening while at dinner to be asked if we still wanted the room. When we did get the room it was clear one of the beds had not been changed and the sheets were filthy. The duty manager did not believe us and insisted on seeing the room. Although initially told there was no alternative we were soon offered another but without properly functioning aircon. This was presented on a take it or stay in the dirty room basis. It should not be above a manager to change a bed - I’ve stayed at and worked for five stars where that would have been done immediately. We were given drinks vouchers as a sop but since we were only staying one night and it was at that stage already after midnight the gesture was entirely token. Breakfast the next morning was chaos and the cleaning staff were mopping and hoovering as guests ate. Shambolic operation - even Basil Fawlty would do better here… stay elsewhere…

I requested a room with castle view, after reaching the room allocated I was informed that the rooms had been accidentally switched around by another colleague. So 1 disappointment. Second disappointment was that there is black mould in the bathroom ceiling. At the breakfast table the eggs were raw and needed to be boiled, I put them to boil 3 times but they still weren't cooked enough. Also the scrambled eggs were in the same pan as hot meat,- for a vegetarian that was very off putting. What I liked was the rituals hand wash, shower gel, the detox water and the mini kids play area.

To catch an early train to Paris - ideally situated. Generally happy with the room, but the mini fridge was empty, and no tea or milk for the hot drinks at all…???
