Our overall stay was ok. The receptionists were lovely and very efficient. The rooms were dated and require some updating. The location was convenient to the station and the customer.

First impressions at reception and check in were great, staff supportive and knowledgeable. All changed when accessing my room, the key card did not work initially then the quality of the room was below the standard I was expecting. Everything was worn and tired within the room. I do not intend to stay at this hotel again unless a room refurbishment programme has been undertaken and serious review and active steps to improve the food quality has been actioned.

Hotel is well located but the rooms are small, dark and very dated. Lobby is very up to date.

The bad bit : Travelling with a friend to visit the NEC we had booked a twin room . At check in we went to the allocated room only to find it was a double room and stank of smoke . Back to reception only to be told there were no twin rooms available which they failed to mention when checking in . .After much discussion and with much reluctance we were offered a refund knowing that trying to find another hotel at a similar price at 7pm on a Friday night was a non starter . We had to settle for the double room with the offer of a second quilt and complimentary drink and free breakfast . The good bits : location is great - 5 mins walk to new street station and similar to the town centre . Hotel is in Chinatown and has a great selection of eating places around . The breakfast was one of the best with a great selection of healthy options and traditional breakfast - eggs cooked to order. Staff were friendly and helpful and apologetic for the room mess up . we were able to leave our bags at the hotel whilst we attended an exhibition.

The hotel is nice and clean. But there is a club/pub nearby that plays music VERY loudly till 2am... so no sleep. The breakfast is basic but fine. Staff were friendly.
