The lady on reception, who has been here many years, kindly welcomed us and was able to offer us car parking now that the local council have made the nearby car park a pay site when previously it has been free for many years. Breakfast was well laid out. Only issue was our room seeming to be close to pipework serving the rooms which caused a low volume humming overnight. Hotel is kept clean so thanks also to housekeeping

For the first time in 15 years of stays, we had a problem with the secure parking, which was resolved. However, how are guests to know you only have 9 spots? This being so, why isn't it a bookable option? The presence of police is totally incogtrous in a hoel and is a unique unwanted inconvenience. The guest experien ce, because of this presence. Is further worsened by the loss of the breakfast room. The bar area is inadequate, as I am sure you know. I also assume the police have parking spaces? A further guest inconveniences is the lack of hotel access to the hotel from the parking. There is little stylish about the hotel in this hybrid hotel/police outpost mess.
