Good location, good frontdesk service (they helped me to get a room with a double bed and not 2 single beds), room clean and tidy. The only issue I had was the room temperature. It was very cold and when I set the thermostat on, I saw a tape on it saying "Cooling only", I spent the night very cold in the room.

We could have told you that the thermostat you were looking at, is not the way to heat the room. Also, we would have been happy to bring an extra heater if you were still cold. Though since it has become colder, we have also instructed our housekeeping team to not close the heating completely and not keep the window open after cleaning. Normally we do that, for environmental reasons. But now it is too cold for that en now guests do not arrive in a very cold room. Stayed several times now, staff extremely friendly and helpful as always. Only complaint is that one lift was out of order for my entire stay (4 days). Leaving only one lift in use and due to covid, only 1 person should have been in lift at any one time. Many people were breaking this rule and you can understand why. The lift was also broken for the entire duration of my previous visit. This issue needs dealing with

We regularly stay in the Mercure Hotel Nijmegen, and we always look forward to returning for our next trip. The hotel is conveniently located next to the main station, and is comfortable and relaxing. My husband is disabled, and it's a great relief to stay at a hotel which is properly adapted for a wheelchair user, and where the staff make sure that he has everything he needs. The team of staff are really outstanding: they go the extra mile to make us welcome and the hotel feels like a home from home. Even in the middle of Covid-19 restrictions they did everything they could to make our stay pleasant and safe - impressive service!

Mercure hotel Nijmegen is a great place to stay if you are new in the city. It's literally beside the Train station and hence you wont have issues to carry your luggage at all. If you're coming to Nijmegen, this is the place you should consider first! :)

We felt safe with the COVID measures that the hotel had in place, all of which were clearly indicated. The restaurant was closed but the hotel provided information about ordering food to the hotel which we were able to eat in the restaurant. Room was clean & comfortable, staff were friendly. Location central & close to the train station.

Awkward Stay

I have mixed feelings. The room was fine. The staff was pleasant and helpful. But: Having to change rooms every 4 days for it to be cleaned was stupid. I had packed enough clothes to travel for a month so moving every 4 days took some effort. FYI, I stayed in quarantine at the Hilton Schiphol prior to my stay at the Nijmegen Mercure and the room was cleaned every day. I just had to leave while the cleaners entered my room. Having only 1 functioning elevator in an 8 story hotel is ridiculous. When I asked when it would be fixed one of the staff laughed and said 3 months and that they were waiting for a part from China. The hotel was packed both weekends I was there and waiting times for an elevator were 10~15 minutes. I was on the 6th or 7th floor so taking the stairs was an option but not easy. For one, I'm not sure the other elevator was really broken or you just didn't want to sanitize it often, but if you valued your customers (many on the weekend were elderly and had to cram into the single elevator... during a pandemic...), you'd airship the part to the hotel and have it fixed. Clearly the inconvenience to the customer wasn't a priority. I had take away breakfast ordered every day, which was nice and convenient, but it was only ready ~ 2/3 of the time. It just didn't seem well organized. Not having the restaurant open during the pandemic was understandable, but would have been a pain if there wasn't a good restaurant (MIA) almost next door. If the Netherlands had reinstituted a lock down, I would have left the Mercure and gone back to the Hilton. With no restaurant, room service, or room cleaning, it would have been unfeasible to stay at this hotel during a lockdown.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Every hotel makes choices in which regulations to follow. We have chosen to strictly follow the instructions of the Dutch Health Services. The rooms are not used for a minimum of 8 hours before our staff may clean it. Though we really understand this is not a great situation, especially not if you stay this long. However, changing is every 5 days, instead of 4. It is too bad you question the truth of the elevator being broken and suggest the guests are not our priority. Because it was definitely broken and needed a specific part. And yes, that needed to come from China which took ridiculously long, despite our constant pressing the company which had to repair this. We were really bothered by this, because it was a real nuisance for our guests. The procedures regarding the breakfast packages has been improved in the meantime. We appreciate your sharing your concerns. Good in almost all respects - helpful staff, nice breakfast, room was nice, comfy bed. Only annoying thing was that one of the two lifts broke the day after I got there and remained out of order for 3 days (was still out order when I checked out on the fourth day). Considering that we were limited to 2 person per lift journey due to corona restrictions, this caused a signicant amount of congestion (probably increasing the chance of corona transmission!) and should have been fixed a lot more quickly
