With special thank you to our bartender! The cleaning offer has just started in our hotel so that might be why not anyone is fully up to date yet. Well-located hotel with an odd kitchenette setup in studio rooms; reasonably-priced secure parking at Arnhem Centraal a few steps away

I stayed in a studio with kitchenette with my wife and daughter for one night after a trip to the nearby Hoge Veluwe national park. We found our stay pleasant and enjoyed the room. We took advantage of the kitchenette and opted to bring our own food for breakfast. The room was of a sufficient size although unfolding the sofa to a bed took up the little remaining space to walk around in the room. The bathroom was quite large by ibis standards. Attention was paid to my requests for a quiet room facing away from the street and to ensuring there were towels and glasses for three people. The kitchenette is rather awkward as it offers a kitchen sink, fridge, kettle and a microwave that is too highly situated even by Dutch height standards. Other reviews have noted that the regular rooms do not even offer a fridge. However, there is no stove or any cutlery provided in the kitchenette, so realistically you have to bring down everything you’ll need from the bar on the 6th floor. The bar personnel were pleasant, however, and did not have any issues with our bringing down three sets of bowls, glasses, plates and cutlery. Nevertheless, the kitchenette offered us the flexibility of having breakfast in the room rather than be constrained by breakfast hours and for longer stays, the lack of variety. The room lacks any storage space as only a limited space behind a mirror is provided to hang clothes, so in winter you can’t hang anything beyond two coats. There is a luggage rack large enough for only a cabin-sized luggage. The hotel itself is quite new and right next to Arnhem Centraal. It took a bit of research to figure out that the lack of parking at the hotel was not an issue as the hotel entrance is literally steps away from the entrance the Arnhem Centraal garage, which charges EUR 17,80 per 24 hours. Note that this rate means that once the length of your stay reaches this amount, you will pay this amount even if you’ve technically stayed for a shorter duration. We only found it very awkward to reach the parking garage as you have to go up an uphill road from the banks of the Rijn river, and it is not obvious how you can turn into this street. The car honking behind me certainly seemed to think I was not supposed to be turning left into the road, even when it turned out to be a two-way street. I had to remind the hotel upon check-in that I had silver status, but we were all given welcome drinks, when Accor hotels in France insist on giving just one drink. We were also allowed a generous free late checkout at 5 p.m., although I had to have my room card re-activated when we went out for lunch the following day and couldn’t re-enter our room. I also had to remind the reception staff of my free late checkout as the system apparently indicated that I was to be charged EUR 30 for late checkout. I also noticed that my online booking on the Accor site specified that taxes of EUR 4 were due at the hotel, with my booking specifying 2 adults and 1 child, but I was charged EUR 6 for taxes upon check-in, explaining that a tax of EUR 2 was payable per person. There is a McDonald’s just a few steps away, and a Spar supermarket a few steps from the hotel entrance. Note that this supermarket, however, is limited to food items. We were looking for some toiletries but realized they didn’t have any. There’s a more typical Albert Heijn about 10 minutes away. All in all, I would recommend this hotel, particularly if you want to break a relatively long trip to Hoge Veluwe. We didn’t explore Arnhem much but it seemed like a pleasant city with a decent range of dining options.
Dear Raymond S., We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the ibis Styles Arnhem Centre. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. We are going to put some more research in how this works with the city tax. As our system does not mtach correctly with Accor in this case. Also quite funny to hear that in France only one welcome drink is provided instead of for evrey person in the booking which we always do. That a late checkout is free for all our members with a silver status or higher, should be known by every staff member. So we will once again make this clear througout our team. The lack of storage is something that we hear more and try to tackle the right way in the future. However this also quite common in Ibis hotels. Thank you again for sharing your experience. If you decide to stay in Arnhem again, please let me know and I will give you the best rates and rooms available! Kind regards, Jurre van Kruijsbergen Front Office Manager
