Poor service from Duty Manager

The hotel room is dated and not worthy of a 4star rating. I booked a queen room via the system we use at work for hotel bookings. However, when I checked in I was placed in a standard room. Once I saw the room I was disappointed and spoke to the duty manager who was not helpful at all. She was in fact dismissive and patronising. She kept on saying that the hotel was 4 star Novotel standard and that I could not be compensated for the issue with the room, she would not look at the booking that I have via email and repeated hersl3f several times that they do not do queen rooms, and that if I don't like it there is nothing that she can do. I have stayed at many hotels and was really disappointed in this one.

Old over priced and tired.

Lowcashon for city Center good and with parking at £18. Lifts very old and dirty. Room very dated and tired. Breakfast was good for £18 each. But paying £150 per night was a Saturday night for the rooms is way over priced. Stay at Leister city one and it great. Won’t stay Sheffield again. There is a small poll that’s nice to have but basic.

Good hotel …but maybe bit more trading of staff needed.

We were attending a funeral of a close family member. We checked in and asked receptionist how to get a taxi the next morning to get to the chapel , she was very offhand didn’t know where it was etc etc. We also asked to borrow some scissors to make a hand tied little bouquet for funeral as requested… she said she wasn’t able to lend us scissors, we would have to go and buy some. Thanks. Hotel was lovely , situated very close to station and we will stay again just hope not to bump into this staff member again.

Standard hotel appropriate to price but really nice staff, particularly the lady at the bar and 2 reception staff who printed many documents for our course for no charge - I've lost their names but they couldn't have been more helpful - thanks!

Not 4 star. Perhaps 3. Sign on reception saying no room service or dining service after 10 pm this week. Should have been notified on making booking, Room very dated. Bedside light set low in the wall so impossible to read by. Tiny separate toilet, if you raise your arm to take some paper the rolls on the holder get knocked off. Mixer tap in bathroom sink wrong shape. Spout at the back so almost impossible to get water. Shower is good. All clean. No information booklet. A QR code appeared the only way to find anything out. I hate QR codes. Discourteous not to offer printed form. Breakfast chaotic. Most tables uncleared at 9 am. No one to ask where tea and juice were. Found the machines behind pillars, no signs. Tinned mushrooms so salty that taste lingered for ages after. Cooked breakfast but stone cold plates. Whole meal cooled v quickly. Poor signage in public areas. Reception is 1st floor. Main front door opens to passage to lift and stairs, and also swimming pool. To get to it you walk through reception, down public stairs, through door. Clear glass so passing people can all watch you. Very disappointed. Staff mainly polite but they struggle to overcome the negatives
