We booked a room for a fellow traveler that did not speak English so she would have a place to sleep since our KLM flight was canceled. After making the reservation, she was lucky enough to be put on another flight and did not need the room. We told the front desk what happened when we arrived and they refused to refund our money. We also wrote to the Mercure hotel and told them of our situation and again they refused to refund our money. I would never ever stay at this hotel again. I would prefer to sleep in the airport.

The hotel is nice, room clean and calm (although it is located just next to the motorway to the airport). We were there for the Amsterdam marathon and the hotel was not prepare for this event even if we were numerous in my situation (the hotel is 35 minutes walking distance to the marathon start). The staff of the hotel did not know anything about bus to go there or how to go there. No specific breakfast or after marathon treat. The breakfast fee was another experience. The reception announced when we arrived that the breakfast is included and in the morning the lady who is in charge of controlling told us it is not included. Of course she did not check with the reception and ask us to check for it. For a Mercure hotel, 4 stars hotel, it is surprising.

OK Stay before flight

A couple of things needed addressing. TV didn’t work. Pillows were old & uncomfortable and sheets were stained. I also paid for a late check out but was asked 3 times why I hadn’t left by normal check out time.
