My son is an aviation enthusiast and wanted to come to watch and photo the planes coming and going, this hotel was absolutely perfectly placed for this. It was very clean, room was absolutely fine for an overnight stay, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, overall adding to a great weekend.

The hotel was in a very handy location and commutable into the city centre on public transport for some site seeing. However considering the cost of the stay we felt it was just not quite good enough. The rooms were small and had no kettle for making tea & coffee. You could request one from reception, which we did. We were told we were lucky because it was the last one, up until now every hotel I've stayed in has had a kettle in the room as standard... They also didn't have mugs so we were told to take paper ones. The breakfast was good but again not included in the stay we had to add it when booking, however this does seem to be a theme of hotels in Amsterdam. Overall the staff were professional and polite but our initial greeting was by a disinterested reception member, I've worked in hospitality most of my life, I understand he may have been tired or whatever but you at least try to match the customers mood surely? We were excited for our holiday, he was bored. We understand it's the Ibis and not the Waldorf but it definitely could have been better.
