The hotel was chosen because of its location on our journey back home from Spain as well as its pool for the kids. The hotel was renovated inside (lobby, restaurant) as it seems but the appearance from the outside as well as the pool area was little welcoming. This also is true for the underground parking (only option) with several "tricks" to be applied in order to get in/out. Unfortunately there was no welcome package for the status in the room but the kids received some pen&paper give-away so they were happy! Lastly we realized that there were several bloodstaints on the bed sheets when we went to sleep. It was too late to ask for a change and we had little time for the sleepover given an early departure so we shared the remaining clean ones. Overall a surprisingly uncomfortable and not satisfying stay in a Novotel.

comfortable and quiet bedroom. good and varied breakfast but noisy breakfast room. The air conditioning of the breakfast room was turned off because it was leaking in the room , then it was hot in the room.

We called in advance to know if we could get a family room, but were told we couldn’t. Instead we could book two rooms that would be adjacent or opposite one another. When we got to the hotel and the rooms, they’re quite far from one another and one of the rooms is exactly what we had originally asked for in the phone. Why we then had to pay for two rooms is still unclear. The next day we get the chance to talk to the hotel manager who told us that if we just wrote booking.com they would reimburse us through them so that we only paid for the one room we were using. We wrote booking.com that has now let us know that the hotel couldn’t understand our claim and would not be reimbursing us. I think the least they could have done was to let us know directly that they had no intention of doing so in the first place. The hotel it self was fine. A bit too far from anything of interest, but easy if you’re just passing through Lyon. Breakfast was not worth it.

We had a very frustrating experience at Novotel Lyon Gerland. Check-in Issues: I booked a higher floor room (+€20) and requested a quiet room. Upon arrival, the receptionist claimed he saw neither request in the system and placed us in a standard room. After complaining, he reassigned us to a connecting room next to a very loud family. It took 1 hour just to get checked in. No one of course cared about my membership, so I guess it is useless. Fortunately, another staff member (the shift leader on July 25th) intervened, resolved the issue professionally, and was very polite—thank you to them. Room Quality: The rooms are severely outdated, even the Executive options. Breakfast Nightmare (€18/person): The scrambled eggs were inedible mush. Guests are expected to boil their own eggs, but the equipment provided does not work properly, meaning you have to cook your own meal for an overpriced paid breakfast. Unacceptable Staff Behavior: On July 26th, the breakfast shift/team leader literally laughed in my face when I asked to speak with the hotel manager, boastfully stating that he manages the teams and had already done everything I requested. Extremely rude and unprofessional. We will never return to this hotel.You can contact me in case it is needed to provide extra details

I booked this by mistake as we normally stay at the Novotel the other side of the river, which is very good. The lobby and restaurant areas in this hotel look fine, however the rooms are shabby and in our case not overly clean. One of the other rooms next to us had left a tray of food in the communal area near to our room, which I assume was room service. Upon leaving the following day the tray was still there, an invite for any rodents in the vicinity. I would never stay here again.

The lobby was blocked off and the car park was gated with no clear instructions on how to operate. That was our only difficulties whereas we were very happy that the hotel prepared the sofa bed for our kids before hand and provided 4 towels for 4 of us. Aircon was also working very well!

The hotel was generally clean and the staff were friendly. It was well located for tram etc. the exterior was ratty and the pool area was very disappointing - tiny pool, poor maintenance of the area, tired surroundings with loud music. Coffee in rooms was a nasty instant with no milk provided.

Hotel is ok, but not outstanding. Restaurant (dinner) doesn't have a correct price-quality balance. Breakfast is good, but this is what you also pay for as well. Shower is set too economically. Good for the environment but it takes some time before your feet get wet or for people with long hair, before the shampoo is totally rinsed out. In my room, the sink made quite some noise for a few minutes after the water was turned off. Bed was good. They did install new and better equipment in the gym area, which is positive
