Review of my stay at Novotel Wrocław City (Room 160, April 9–10, 2025) My stay at Novotel Wrocław City turned out to be an extremely unpleasant and stressful experience. The room was clearly worn down – the mattress was saggy and uncomfortable, and the pillows provided no proper support. While the bathroom was clean and slightly refreshed, the water pressure was very weak. Breakfast did not meet even the most basic standards: by 9:00 AM key items like scrambled eggs were gone and never replenished, and the overall selection of food was limited and of poor quality. The gym was just two treadmills, a bench, and a few light dumbbells – with no towels or water available. However, the most serious issue was that I was bitten by bedbugs during the single night I spent in the hotel. The bites appeared on my stomach and torso – areas I do not expose publicly – which left no doubt as to their source. I arrived at the hotel in my own car, used no public transport, and did not leave the premises apart from a short walk. I had never experienced anything like this before. I immediately contacted the hotel after discovering the bites, giving them a chance to respond responsibly. Unfortunately, instead of owning the problem, they tried to shift the blame elsewhere. During a phone call with the hotel manager – which I found extremely uncomfortable – I was repeatedly told that the bites could not possibly have originated in the hotel. I was even asked about my mode of transportation, which clearly suggested an intent to redirect responsibility away from the hotel. Despite my multiple requests to end the conversation, it was prolonged in a dismissive and condescending tone. Later, I received a text message stating that a pest control procedure had been carried out (they used the term “deratization,” though I assume they meant disinfection), along with an offer to send me a report intended to convince me that the incident had occurred elsewhere. This was not an offer of support – it was a clear attempt to defend their position and undermine my credibility, even though I reported a fact, not a suspicion. The message also included a suggestion that perhaps my negative opinion could somehow be “reduced” – which I interpreted as a subtle attempt to downplay the situation without actually acknowledging the problem. I fully expect the hotel to respond to this review with a statement attempting to defend itself, referencing procedures, technical reports, or internal protocols. But no report will change the fact that I was bitten in this specific room, in this specific hotel – and that the hotel’s response lacked empathy, responsibility, and transparency, instead offering denial and deflection. This wasn’t my first stay at this hotel, but it will certainly be my last – not only here, but at any Novotel property. If this is the standard of hygiene, accountability, and guest care the brand represents, I cannot recommend it to anyone.
