Good airport hotel but poor shuttle service

Hotel is really well located and although close to the airport it was quiet. The tram stop at Grand Arenas is only 5 mins walk (turn right out of the hotel, right again at the corner and follow the walkway which takes you directly to the tram stop). Nice St. Augustin train station is also close to the tram stop (up the steps) so very convenient for trips all along the coast. The trains are quick and run on time! We had a standard room which was large and very comfortable and clean. Excellent choice of food for breakfast. We had dinner one evening which was also good. Sadly we had a poor experience with the shuttle bus both ways. On arrival we called the hotel and asked where the pickup point was. The member of staff who answered the phone was difficult to understand, we had to spell out all our details and the directions given were very unclear so we were left walking around trying to find it. Not great in unfamiliar surroundings in the dark! Finally found the place which is literally straight ahead out of door A0 at Terminal 1 and there are bays for buses to pull in, though there was nothing marked "Novotel" so it still wasn't obvious. Then no sign of shuttle so called the hotel a second time. Again had to go through spelling out our names etc and was told the bus was coming. It did turn up a few minutes later but the whole process took about half an hour which is crazy as the drive to the hotel is only a few minutes. The shuttles back to the airport are supposed to run every half hour. We were told to wait by reception and they'd let us know when the next one was leaving. They didn't and we had to go and ask again. They then had to call up a driver and get him to come out and take us! It seems that although they advertise a shuttle they don't really want to provide the service! It was annoying but the hotel overall was good, so would stay there again, especially now we know the area.

Lovely room. The breakfast was amazing with cooked, continental fruit and cereal. A very good collection of cheese meats bread and cakes too I waited at the airport for a while and then rang the hotel to get picked up. If you don’t call they won’t come.

Great location if you require being close to the airport

The hotel was very clean and the room was modern, new, very clean and comfortable. Hotel staff were helpful and polite. It would have been beneficial to have some things explained to us on checkin such as there is a water machine on each floor where you can fill the glass bottle in your room. I had to cll down to reception to enquire how to get drinking water in the room. The restaurant food was lovely and the hotel was pet friendly as we saw a gorgeous dog in the restaurant. The free airport shuttle which runs every 30 mins is a huge plus and very convenient and took a lot of stress away. The only negative I had was a weird constant vibration by my head when I lay down to go to sleep which kept me awake the entire night. If we were staying more than one night I would have requested to change rooms.
