Check-in was OK. After 11 hours driving could not get a decent beer. Then could not get served as 4 members of staff took 10 minutes talking to themselves despite several customers waiting to be served.

Reception area good but rooms very Spartan more associated with budget hotels . More 2 star than 4 star.

Room was not as good as in previous stays at this Novotel, which we usually rate as excellent. There was no mini fridge and the desk surface was smaller than usual. Dinner service was not as good as usual. The requested carafe of water didn’t come until we had finished our main course. No inclusive menu was offered. In the past we have been offered a token for a free drink at the bar but not this time.

Convenient but very basic rooms, not 4 star comfort

Have used the hotel over the years as it is a relatively convenient stop off point between Calais and Bordeaux. Parking is secure and free. There are also electric vehicle charging points. The hotel has had a makeover which has improved the reception area but sadly the rooms, whilst clean are very basic, now are more akin to a cheap budget hotel. The bedside tables are ludicrous, more suitable for a gnomes picnic. It’s not 4 star that’s for sure so expensive for what it is.
