Family trip to Edinburgh, Always stay in this hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Close to tram or train into city.. Swimming sauna and nice little gym.. We always bring our little dog.. What is a big plus for us.. Will definitely be back

My bag containing my laptops, phones and other valuables was stolen in the hotel restaurant during breakfast. The hotel couldn’t even contact the police and is claiming they are not to be held liable. If you know you allow criminals in your hotel, why not place a sign for people to be careful with their bags when having breakfast. I am really disappointed that a so called 4 star hotel can’t handle little issues like security. I didnt even end up eating my breakfast that I paid for due to trauma and the hotel didn’t even care. Though I know I will never stay there again.

Dear guest, We are so sorry that you went through this situation, we understand that it is vey difficult. We believe that certain points of your review are unfair: our staff members did everything in their power to help you and support you. I personally spoke to you on the day and reviewed CCTV footage almost immediately. I explained to you that you must report this incident to Police Scotland - even if the hotel contacts Police, they would need to speak to you directly. I explained that if you report this to them, they would come to the hotel and request CCTV clippings, which we would of course provide. I am not sure if you have contacted Police or not, as we have not received any communication from them yet. In these complicated situations, there is always a protocol to follow and we follow it strictly. We try to advise our guests as much as possible. I am very sorry that this happened in our hotel - we are a very safe hotel and none of us working here for several years remember anything like this happening in the past. Public areas such as the bar/restaurant are still public access areas and we do not recommend our guests to leave their baggage unattended at any time. My colleague on duty on that morning offered you the possibility of leaving your luggage in our left luggage facilities, however you refused. We discourage our guests from leaving their valuables unattended in such high traffic areas, as even if we have numerous staff members on duty, it is not their duty to watch anyone's belongings. Again, I am sorry that this happened in this hotel and I understand how upsetting this can be. I would just like to make it clear that we are, and will, keep supporting you in any way that we can, however you must make a Police report yourself. Please do get in touch with us for a refund of the breakfast, I am of course happy to do that for you. Sincerely, Daniela Front Office Manager
