We completely understand your frustration after attempting to contact the hotel on four separate occasions without receiving a response. While this helps explain the circumstances, we recognise that it does not excuse a lack of communication or make your experience any less disappointing. We would also like to mention that our hotel phone system provides several options for contacting different areas of the hotel and speaking with a member of staff should the primary line not be answered. We regret that you were unable to reach someone when you needed assistance and that these alternative options did not resolve the situation for you. After calling four separate times and receiving no response, I had to change my plans. I had intended to arrive with my car, but due to the lack of communication, I ended up leaving it at the station, which was not my preferred option. What disappointed me most was the response at reception when I raised the issue. I was simply told that they were very busy. I wasn't expecting a major resolution, just a little understanding and perhaps a sincere apology. Reception is meant to support guests, especially when assistance is needed. Apart from this experience, the property itself was good. However, because of the poor customer service and lack of responsiveness, I personally would not choose to stay here again.

I had a lovely staycation at Mercure LaTrobe Street, couldn't fault it. The food was divine and everyone made me feel very welcome. The Foundry is epic, and the beds are comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is having more bar staff on - on an exceptionally busy night, having one bartender meant a long wait!

Got locked out my room for 2.5 hours before the most important exam of my life with no belongings

Dear Jamie G., hank you for sharing your concerns, and please accept our sincere apologies for the distress and inconvenience caused by the issue with your room door lock. We fully appreciate how upsetting and stressful it must have been to be unable to access your room for approximately two and a half hours, particularly immediately before what you described as the most important exam of your life and while you were without your personal belongings. We understand that the timing of this incident made an already stressful situation considerably more difficult. Unfortunately, the door lock reader experienced a technical fault that required the assistance of a specialist from ASSA to safely access and rectify the lock. Our General Manager has been in direct contact with you after the incident to help explain the situation and work towards a resolution. While we appreciate that being offered an alternative room did not resolve the immediate frustration of being locked out of your own room, this was offered while our team was working to establish what had gone wrong with the locking mechanism and to ensure you had access to a secure room while the issue was being investigated. We sincerely regret that this occurred during such an important and stressful time for you. Although the fault was unexpected and required specialist assistance, we recognise the impact it had on your experience and understand your disappointment. Thank you for your patience and for bringing this matter to our attention. We are reviewing the incident with our team and relevant service providers to help minimise the likelihood of a similar occurrence in the future. We had a good stay at Mercure La Trobe and were overall happy with things. We had a minor issue where housekeeping removed a bag of our food during their service, but staff worked to remedy this as best they could. Also a little disappointed to not get the promised room upgrade due to our ALL Accor Gold status. All in all it was a good experience and very close to the conference we attended which worked well.

We recently stayed at Mercure La Trobe Street with my partner and his son, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the hotel was, especially considering how affordable it was. We don’t live far from the city, but decided to stay overnight so we could have a wander around and enjoy the city without having to worry about getting home. The location was really convenient, and the room was comfortable and clean. Another bonus is that Wilson Parking is available right outside the hotel, which made parking really easy and convenient. Overall, we had a great stay and honestly didn’t expect such good value for the price. We’d definitely consider staying here again for another city getaway.

We had such a beautiful stay! The reception staff were so friendly and helpful when we arrived, and our room was absolutely beautiful and extremely clean. We had the buffet breakfast, which had a great selection, and the coffee was delicious! We also visited the Foundry Bar and sat outside, such a beautiful spot and the perfect place to relax. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely book again!

for the price, it's definitely a good experience. We love the newly renovated room and though it's not slap bang in the middle of the city, it's still within walking distance or some tram stop away.
