Location is one thing, but in terms of Accor, this one is long overdue for an upgrade. Carpets:worn and stained; rooms not light tight; loose fittings, and scuffed interior fittings. In any upgrade, preserve the murals. Southern Cross Station removed theirs, maintain that art deco nod. The entrance is borderline illegal. Steep stairs, no level access, and for us old fuddy duddies, almost inaccessible. A little more interaction from the pm shift might be novel. Most of the time, they seem to be simply staring at screens. Reporting a fault was well handled and attended. It was fine, but not excellent.

Most notably, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you especially to Ravi for his help when I made the booking! The room was smallish but not crammed, and it had all the basics we needed including tissues, soaps and wifi. We did need to call housekeeping to take care of something that had been overlooked, and they came promptly to take care of it and we were satisfied. Breakfast offered a variety of options, without frills. For example, square sliced bread rather than gourmet sourdough. It wan't fancy, but it was plentiful and satisfying and that was fine for this stay as we didn't have time to lounge and indulge. Parking is about a 5 minute walk away and operated by a third party. A bit tricky to find at first, but it was a little cheaper than what other hotels charge. Overall, a comfortable stay for our family for one night. A more luxurious hotel would suit a longer, more leisurely stay.
