Great location, easy of the wallet and very friendly staff. Rooms / amenities were quite basic and had some issues with the AC leaking + lack of sunlight but otherwise suitable for a short stay where you aren’t spending much time in the room.

I recently stayed at ibis Styles Kingsgate Hotel Melbourne and had a very pleasant experience. The biggest advantage of this hotel is definitely its excellent location – it’s very convenient and makes it easy to explore the city and get around Melbourne. Another highlight was the extremely comfortable bed, which made it easy to get a great night’s sleep after a busy day. I was also pleasantly surprised by the excellent breakfasts – a great way to start the day. In addition, the helpfulness and kindness of the staff did not go unnoticed. The team was always friendly, attentive, and willing to assist. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay and I would happily consider staying here again.

Not the cleanest place I have ever stayed, but this hotel is extremely well located close to Southern Cross Station and trams, and the rooms are comfortable and equipped with the necessities. If you are looking for a simple and affordable place to stay for a few days without all the luxury frills, this is perfect. The bathroom was newly renovated and quite lovely with a roomy shower. Note that the only toiletry supplied was a 3-in-1 soap/shampoo so best to bring your own, but there were plenty of towels and loo roll and a hairdryer. Heating/cooling, TV, wifi, mini fridge, kettle with tea/coffee, ironing board and iron, and a small safe in my room. You get access to a coin-operated laundry, a nice lounge/free library, small gym with cardio and free weights, and a cafe that provides breakfast if you want it. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. There is lovely wall art to look at on each floor too. My two (minor) complaints: getting in the front door, you climb several stairs which sucks with a heavy suitcase - but there are lifts to the upper floors. The bathroom was quite clean, as was the bed linen, but attention to detail was lacking in the room with some splashes on the walls, a piece of rubbish which hadn’t been picked up from the last guests, and the fridge handle being a bit manky. However, I have stayed at much worse for a lot more money.
