Lovely hotel in the cbd, close to southern cross station. The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The bed was comfortable, it was very clean, all covid protocols were in place Highly recomend this hotel

Suffocated by the smell of cigarettes

The entrance, lobby and lifts all smelt SO STRONGLY of stale cigarettes. My partner and I honestly discussed leaving and going elsewhere but reconsidered because it was only 1 night and the room didn't smell as bad. Also felt very old and unsafe in the building. Our room view was a fire exit external stairwell and concrete walls.

No complaints. The Kingsgate is my top choice. I know that when people book and pay for specials in advance, money is non-refundable. I am not a fan of this decision. Thing is: someone pays a huge amount of money on a special, they have to pay it all in advance. I don’t like that decision. Two words: bad timing. Someone pays huge money but have to cancel their plans due to some misfortune meaning they have lost a couple of hundred or up to a thousand dollars. That is a gamble, a huge gamble for a lot of people, well organised or not. I propose that when someone books a special, they should pay a deposit-non-refundable is all right and fair-then pay the remainder on arrival. Book now and pay certain percentage immediately and rest of the special on arrival.

Our 6th floor room was quiet, clean & comfortable but for a superior room it was smaller than expected and furniture & furnishings were not up to the standard we are used to for $NZ214/night

I had experienced three mice in my room and had to check out two nights early. This is a very unpleasant place to stay while in Melbourne and would not recommend to anyone in the future.

We flew into Melbourne later than planned (plane delayed), was really easy to walk from Skybus Southern Cross with two small children. Check-in staff were lovely. Our room was at the rear of the building so nice and quiet. However, the carpet was really grubby. I live with two small children, I know how gross floors can get but at a hotel I expect it to be cleaner than it was. Potentially not deep cleaned since it was put in. I get that there are renovations going on but please clean the carpet. Breakfast in the morning was well stocked. there were dietary options available including a separate toaster for the gluten-free bread :)

We had a family event to attend in Melbourne. We weren't planning to be in town long and we weren't planning to spend much time in our room. Hence, we wanted cheap accommodation near Southern Cross Station. Ibis Styles Kingsgate worked well for us.

Great location Renovated rooms vale for money and great staff. left items in the safe . they called and held them till i could get back to collect. the breakfast was sufficient but basic . information in lobby on screen was good the main station is 5 minutes away as is the food place DFO casino and yarra river

Positive - good location Negatives - Old hotel. Shabby interior and rooms. Asked for high floor- got low floor. Asked for double room and got two single beds and a tiny room. Not great as a platinum Accor member! Bedside lamp didn’t work No bar/ restaurant. Tiny fitness room. Accor team, this hotel needs a major renovation or set it free from your brand - it is doing you no favours. Thanks

Although booked for two people there was only one towel, this was attended to quickly and politely. We did find empty biscuit packets under a bed, but the room was clean apart from that accidental discovery. Buffet breakfast is continental unless you wish to pay extra and limited but pleasant. Lift noise is an issue if you are a light sleeper. My room was not neat the lift (this time) but I could still hear it in the background.
