This had to be the absolute worst bedding I have ever slept on in my life, and I have backpacked through Europe with Hostel accommodation mattresses that were more comfortable than this. Sadly when I returned to the hotel after dinner and finished up my emails I jumped into bed and the mattress should have been discarded years prior, I had to unmake the bed unzip the mattresses and swap them from one side to another (due to sleeping with a c-pap machine I always sleep on one side of the bed) the mattress when I saw it almost made me vomit it was that horrible to look at with bedding removed and the indent in the mattress itself looked like it was well over 10 years old. I changed rooms the next morning and did advise person on reception who said new mattresses had been ordered. This is not what I have been used to when staying in All Accor accommodation. The room also had a 2kg gas bottle on top of the cupboard as well which could have hit me on the head when I pulled my bag off the top had I not felt the extra weight when pulling my bag back down.

I arrived about two hours early and, while I understand early check-in isn’t guaranteed (especially as I hadn’t advised my ETA), there was no proactive effort or flexibility shown. At check-in, I was incorrectly informed that my rate did not include breakfast. This had to be clarified by showing my booking confirmation on the Accor app, which wasn’t a great first impression. As an Accor member, I also wasn’t offered a welcome drink. I had to ask about it later, and was handed a can of Coke to take to my room — which felt underwhelming for a property of this standard. During breakfast, while waiting to be seated, a staff member called out to me from across the reception area (around 10–15 metres away) asking why I was waiting. This felt quite unprofessional, and even other guests appeared surprised. Overall, the staff did not come across as welcoming or engaged. There was a noticeable lack of warmth, smiles, or hospitality. For a 5-star property, this experience fell well short of expectations. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning to Peppers Docklands.
