Nice but not five star

Great location for us to walk to Southern Cross station and to get on trams. The location is amongst offices and is pretty quiet with some interesting cafes . The room we had was well appointed and well maintained . We didn’t experience a welcoming approach from staff at checkin and a reluctance to attend to issues . Breakfast is reasonable and is buffet style . The pool and gym are in a neighbouring building which is fine . We found the gym area to be quite unclean and in some aspects , unsafe . When reporting this , we were not made aware of OHS procedures . Overall , this is not a five star hotel and the professional approach usually associated with Accor wasn’t really evident .

My room was not ready at 1pm and I was told I would receive a call when it was ready to go. Never received a call and eventually got in the room at 4pm. Room was clean except for a multitude of baby greasy hand prints over all the windows. My normal Platinum greeting was nowhere to be seen, no welcome card or the traditional bottle of wine. Room cleaning service was terrible and my room was not cleaned until 3 pm daily. They took away my pool towels for what reason I have no idea. The breakfast was nice. It was definitely not the same quality service I received on my previous stay. Not likely to stay there in the future.

This hotel does not have the features required of a 5 star hotel. Dining and bar services are very limited. The rooms are rarely serviced. The balcony was dirty and looked directly into a gym. They don’t even have a wine list, you just have to guess. There is one reception member so checking in and out was very delayed. And don’t bother with the pool or you will be searching for it in the building next door. There is no cover, it’s dirty and no cocktails. It was very disappointing for an expensive stay. The one positive was the tram at the door.

We booked the King suite with Balcony. The room was pokey and hard to walk around the bed, the “Balcony” was so small you could hardly fit two people on it & looked over the roof. We needed the Airconditioner on during the night as the room is so stuffy however it drips dirty water onto the pillow right where your head goes. The TV goes black every 30 minutes or so - loses picture but sound is still there. The Pool was full when we asked for access so we had to wait, which was ok but when we got there it did not feel heated at all. $49 to park your car is ridiculous & staff cars blocked access making it difficult to get in and out. It wasn’t an expensive room so perhaps our expectations were too high but some of the things I’ve mentioned (like Airconditioner dripping on your head) are unacceptable.
