There was a sudden fire incident during my stay which was reportedly caused by an electrical short circuit in the elevator wiring. The fire happened on the 16th floor while my room was on the 15th floor, very close to the affected area. The situation was very frightening. Because of the smoke, many of my personal belongings in the room including my own pillow, clothes, and teddy bear ended up with a strong unpleasant smell. This is not something that can be solved just by changing rooms. I was too scared to return to the hotel that night and only came back the next morning to pack and check out. While I understand accidents can happen, I was disappointed that the hotel did not offer any compensation or goodwill gesture to affected guests after the incident.

On 13 March 2026, a fire broke out on the 16th floor of the hotel, reportedly due to a short circuit in the lift panel (as covered by The Straits Times). My wife was staying at the hotel at the time. She had to evacuate from the sixth floor via the staircase filled with smoke, where visibility was so poor she could not see the steps clearly. In the process, she twisted her foot twice before reaching the ground floor. What was most disappointing was the lack of staff presence and guidance. At the ground floor, no staff instructed guests where to gather or offered any assistance. My wife eventually saw people re-entering the hotel and quickly checked out. Not a single staff member offered an apology, water, or even asked if she needed help. This reflects a serious lack of training and preparedness for emergencies. The condition of the fire exit doors raises questions about whether they are truly smoke-proof, and the incident itself highlights concerns about the maintenance of critical systems such as lift panels. Overall, the hotel’s response was inadequate and unprofessional. This was a very disappointing and unsafe experience. We will not be returning, and I strongly urge the hotel management to review their safety protocols, staff training, and maintenance standards to prevent such failures in the future.
