I have stayed at Shadow Play several times now and have never had a problem. The location is great, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. It’s a 9.5/10 for me. I’m only deducting 0.5 because I find the beds a little too firm for my liking. Usually I only stay for one or two nights at a time, so it’s not a huge issue. If I were looking for a longer stay, though, I probably wouldn’t choose Shadow Play because of the firm beds. That’s purely personal preference, though! If you like a firm bed then Shadowplay would be 10 rating. We’re from country Victoria, and this stay was for a girls’ night to celebrate a friend’s 60th, with dinner and drinks planned. Shadow Play had left a bottle of wine, some snacks and a birthday card in our room, which was such a lovely and thoughtful surprise. It really made the stay feel extra special. I’ll definitely continue staying at Shadow Play when I’m in Melbourne.

We were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment which was nice to have more space. There was only one bathroom and the design of this bathroom meant that there was nowhere to put toiletry bags, makeup etc. which was inconvenient. The tap handles would be difficult for an older guest and also the placement of the metal shelf could be dangerous for a larger person. In general though the room was comfortable for a three night stay.

Great location. Very clean. Only negative is the entry and reception areas are very dark, not great for those with a vision impairment or poor eyesight.

Hi, I found it a bit misleading.... honestly, I don't believe you are a 5 star accomodation. The entrance is very basic and quite off putting really. Dark and unwelcoming. The best part of my stay was your restaurant. Fabulous meals, unbelievable actually. The room was fine. An upgrade was given apparently - however, I booked a two bedroom apt and got a 2 bdr apt, not sure about the upgrade part! Only being on the 3rd floor meant you could hear the drunks on the street and water drains from inside the building. The refrigerator was crazy noisy! The beds were nice, comforable. The bathroom was TINY. The shower was diabolical to use and incredibly frusterating to get the water temperature right. No where to put your toiletry bag, the sink was a laundry sink! NO edging. Annoying. Thanks but unless you are renting a 3 bdrm apt - which seem to be on the top floors ad probably much better, then I don't think I'd stay here again.

Our stay at Shadow Play Melbourne by Peppers was nothing short of exceptional. From arrival to departure, every detail exceeded our expectations. The moment we stepped into reception, the sophisticated fragrance and mood lighting established an immediate sense of calm and belonging. Check-in was seamless, warm, and deeply personal. Our apartment was immaculate, modern, and incredibly spacious, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline. Perfectly positioned and easy to locate, it served as an ideal base for exploring Melbourne. The dining experience was equally impressive; both room service and breakfast tasted like premium, award-winning restaurant fare, complemented by the best coffee we have ever had. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. Every interaction with the team felt authentic, attentive, and genuinely warm, mirroring the hospitality of being welcomed into someone’s private home. While we visited to explore the city, the hotel was so spectacular that we found ourselves not wanting to leave. I cannot recommend Shadow Play Melbourne by Peppers highly enough.
