Great Hotel for South Wharf

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

djh1 TripAdvisor review

This is a really good quality hotel in a nice part of Melbourne. We are Accor Plus members but this night was booked using Emirates points. Accor still gave us a a top floor room with a stunning view and the usual free drink vouchers, which I didn't expect since I didn't book with them. The room was clean with the aforementioned good view and had every thing you need for a short stay. Improvements would be a coffee machine instead of simply a kettle, and a better Chromecast as the one we had just wouldn't work. These are minor issues though. Lifts were very slow, as only one seemed to be operating. Breakfast was efficient and tasty, although the included coffee could be improved and the extra charge coffee was too cold to be enjoyable. All in all an excellent hotel to stay at if you need to stay in the South Wharf end of Melbourne, and we will certainly stay again.

MR CAPRIANI at the Novotel South Wharton

The review is for the restaurant Mr Capriani , The worst restaurant in a Novotel ever. It is supposed to be an Italian restaurant. It was a tasteless meal. Not sure if they had a real Chef or someone pretending to be. We were still eating our entries when out came the mains. We had entries and mains ,all over in less than 30 minutes. That’s a Saturday night. It was not busy either. So just avoid this place.

Perfect for a night at The Plenary, the Lume or the Convention Centre

Modern, clean, efficient hotel. Friendly staff. Warmly greeted and arrived in time for Happy Hour at the bar on Level 6. Enjoyed a glass of sparkling, a beer and shared the calamari with chorizo. Very nice! We were there to see The Piano Guys at the Plenary, so this was extremely convenient as it’s just next door. We had a King bed room with views of the city. The bed was very comfortable - felt like s nice, plush mattress topper. Pillow menu on offer if you wanted something different than what was on the bed. The bathroom has a good shower with shampoo and liquid shower gel, but no hair conditioner. Also, no lotion or shower caps that I saw. There is a kettle to make tea or instant coffee, but no coffee machine. I think there is a coffee in the foyer, but it wasn’t open when we were there. It appeared to have a cocktail bar there as well with displays of cocktail glasses, but I misread the sign when it said it was open between 8-11. I think it meant for the morning, but when we returned to the hotel after the concert at 10:30pm, I thought it meant you could get a cocktail. It also wasn’t open Saturday morning, so we ended up walking to The Boatbuilders Yard for coffee and breakfast - which was delicious! A very clean, comfortable place to stay in an area that’s easy to see the city from.

Thank you for your detailed review kozkan

Spotless, modern hotel with amazing views of Melbourne. For anyone confused how it works with the MCEC (Melb Conference & Exhibition Centre) - it's a horseshoe shoe configuration which goes Pan Pacific hotel - MCEC between the hotels - Novotel South Wharf - carpark (i.e. DFO Centre). It's fairly easy to access off the freeway if driving from regional Victoria. There's a door from the lobby directly into the MCEC. Access is a little bit inconvenient, which is the only drawback. You go in on the ground floor, catch a lift to floor 5, to find reception, then walk to another set of lifts. The lifts are small and slow, stopping every couple of floors all the way down, so you can't quickly/easily access your room if you want to pop back in conference breaks. Room has kettle & fridge, no coffee machine. But overall a really great hotel.

Thank you for your review Stephanie!

Recently I have been going through all Accor hotels, because for work it's essential a lot of the time. This is by far my favourite I've stayed in so far. From the start I was greeted well, shout out to Peter, who was still in training but was a super nice guy and told me everything I needed to know. Room was fantastic, I was upgraded being with the Accor program (Other programs are available! 😂) But it's always nice when it happens. There's small things that keep my happy. I usually bring my Xbox with me and sometimes it's difficult to connect with hotel TVs. Not in this place, HDMI slot in the wall so you can connect nice and easy! As far as the hotel bar/restaurant goes... Really great staff for one! They were all extremely nice and helpful. I had the margarita pizza and the mozzarella pull was good! It's a small-ish area, so might become cramped on busy days, but for me it was great. Ended up staying 3 nights instead of my initial one, because I enjoyed it so much. As far as landmarks go, it's about a 15 minute walk from both Southern Cross Station and Flinders St, DFO and the Exhibition centre and literally on your doorstep and there's plenty of bars, restaurants and the Casino close by. All in all a fantastic place to visit and great value! :)

Thank you Andrew for your review - It was our pleasure hosting you over the 3 days.
