Unfortunately, the light in my bathroom was not working and it did not get fixed after room was cleaned. I had raised this with the staff.

The Mercure Southbank is well located, but the room was very tired and a bit dingy (although clean enough). Late night room service was limited only to a pale margherita pizza and a replacement drink because the one I ordered was unstocked but the original price was left on the room charge. However, since I was barely in the room, it was fine. Bed was comfortable, shower was warm, wifi was unreliable but generally worked.

Reception service is slow because there's only one person serving. The self-service kiosk couldnt locate my bookings. There was no liquids soap in the shower.

I really enjoyed this stay and it exceeded all expectations. Highlights are - Location/walkability: steps from the river, very short walk to CBD, station, arts precinct. - comfortable room layout making good use of space - Fantastic cafe-bar: one of the few Accor hotels in Melbourne with a cafe/restaurant open for lunch and dinner daily, and the variety and quality of dishes was excellent. I loved everything I ate. - Staff were all lovely
