It was great to have a cafe within the hotel where you could get a coffee and sit to read a book. The bed was comfortable and the room was a great size. Breakfast had a lot of variety and the hot food was hot. It was great having cold, ambient and sparkling water on tap at anytime from the cafe and a carafe in the room to use to fill with the water. The hotel was well situated in Southbank, close to restaurants, convenience stores and just a short walk to the walking bridge across the Yarra River to Flinders St and Elizabeth St. I liked how they have Chromecast so you can watch movies through your own device. There were only two things I didn't like, one was they didn't accept cash but insisted they charge for paying by card, even eftpos. The other was it was pretty much self serve check in and out. There was a woman at the desk but there was no interaction with her other than her pointing out the self serve screens that we had to use to check in. I like to talk to the person at check in and have human interaction. At check out again, it was self serve. There wasn't anyone there to ask how was your stay, thanks for staying with us or even wish us a good day. Other than this, it was a perfect stay.

Overall the Mecure Melbourne Southbank is a great place to stay. The location is fantastic, the staff are great and we had a great time. However, the one thing that let us down was housekeeping. We were there for 4 days and 3 nights, and only needed one room clean .... and when we returned to the room .... the tissue box was still empty and there was no new rolls. But again, we still had a great time and would stay there again.
