Apartment was great - though probably getting a bit 'old' - it could do with a really good 'spring clean'. The staff were friendly and breakfast buffet good value,

When I arrived to check in for my “prepaid stay” on 27/2 I was advised that the credit card used to pay online (my mum’s) had been rejected and I’d have to pay now. I’d booked it 11/25 and assumed “prepaid” meant that it had been paid with the credit card supplied. The email I received showed the amount to be paid at the hotel was $0. In the time between my booking (11/25) and my arrival at the hotel (27/2/26), my mother’s credit card number had changed as she’d lost it and had gotten a replacement. My mother and I stay at the Mantra Southbank 4 or 5 times a year so she can attend the Australian Ballet performances from interstate and have a comfortable place to stay (I live in Melbourne but my place is very small). She is very happy to pay for all accommodation, but I pay for every second or third booking because it feels like the right thing to do. Sadly my 90yo mother broke her ankle 2 days before she was meant to travel and will be in hospital for several months. I was under the impression that the booking was paid and non refundable, so I’d invited a friend to come and stay 1 night with me to use my mum’s ballet ticket which mum was delighted about. No one bothered to contact me by phone, text or email at any time to let me know that the payment had been rejected (even though I have a membership and have stayed there many, many times). Had I been contacted before arrival, I would have provided the new number. In fact I was told that the card had been tried several times and kept getting rejected. I was not going to contact my mother in hospital to ask for her card number (I don’t keep it on me), so I was devastated at having to pay such a steep, steep rate for a room I didn’t need nor want. The female staff member who helped me when I was extremely upset with this news was lovely and when I asked if I could cancel just the Sunday night for a refund she agreed which I assumed would be full refund. When I checked my account later it was only $135 out of the $616.35 paid for the night. I also begged for a refund on the next booking 16/3 - 19/3 which was prepaid on my credit card but was told it was non refundable. I’ve since invited a friend to join me. I think the absolute least you can do is refund me the full amount for Sunday 1/3 and provide me with your best room for the next stay. I was provided with 2 complimentary buffet breakfasts on the last stay but that was honestly more of a punishment. I dare Senior Management to eat the “scrambled eggs” or drink the coffee.

Whilst they recognise Accor+/explorer, as a Platinum there was no welcome gift. With regard to welcome drinks on the app - there is no bar or restaurant to redeem them. Asking at the front desk on check in, I received a welcome drink.

The 2 bedroom apartment was huge! Really comfortable with everything we needed. The location was perfect. We walked everywhere we needed to go. The staff were really nice too.

Fantastic location. The room's are starting to look a little tired but very clean i must say. Disappointing the bar doesn't open & the sauna still hasn't been repaired from the last time I was here.

Dear Rodney, thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to review our property. I am pleased you enjoyed our excellent location. We are working with the owners corporation to resolve the spa issue. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Sincerely, Jens Corder
