Frustrating trip with lots of issues during our stay. F and B options limited, confusion over pool opening times, long waits for food and drinks, invoice incorrect on leaving, trying to charge for prepaid rooms, asking for passport details after we left as system had not recorded our details.

The hotel has enormous potential. The rooms are beautiful, and the facilities are very nice. However, I had a very unpleasant experience during my stay. At check-in, the receptionist, Juancho, skipped me in line and addressed the next person, who was my husband. Despite the fact that I made the reservation and the booking was under my name, he treated me in an arrogant manner. Even during the check-in process, he refused to speak to me and addressed only my husband, although the reservation was clearly in my name. Normally, when arriving at a hotel, guests are welcomed with a friendly attitude and often a welcome drink. Unfortunately, this was not the case at Fairmont Hacienda. Additionally, most of the hotel employees seemed disorganized and unsure about basic information, such as New Year’s Eve plans and the dinner menu, which created a lot of confusion. I spoke with the manager, who was understanding, and we agreed that I would pay for the first night and then leave, as my reservation was non-refundable. Given the circumstances, even though the manager tried to make us as comfortable as possible, we felt that the best decision was to leave the hotel.

The hotel and rooms were very new and nice throughout. We felt our "upgrade" was a bit misunderstood, as we had booked a Fairmont Suite, and requested a higher floor, but we were given a larger suite on the ground floor with a small plunge pool. (At check out I was told that the Fairmont suite was part of the villas, so that may be why we were not given a higher floor). This larger suite would have been nice in the summer, but was not useful for us in December. The room was cold both days we stayed there. On the second day we also lost hot water, so it was impossible to shower before moving to the next hotel. We did not complain until check out, as we travel a lot, and are flexible as long as we only stayed 2 nights. (The front desk gave us a discount on the cost of the rollaway bed due to the lack of hot water). On Christmas Eve we had a very nice dinner at the Dalmar restaurant in the hotel.
