Hotel itself is gorgeous - rooms, lobby, pool area etc. But from check in on day one, the service is anything but five star and certainly does not live up to the Fairmont name we have experienced elsewhere.

Check in was poor......second room not available until after 5 pm; not acceptable! Getting the room cleaned was inefficient...so much so our daughter's room was not serviced on one of the days and had to ring for clean towels and toilet rolls; unacceptable! The rain closed down the pool bar....making eating difficult. Why is the this bar area made not to withstand rain? Booking a table in the main restaurant was extremely difficult. We were told to order room service. I do not go on holiday to sit in my room and eat dinner! Unacceptable! We did order room service but ate in the bar but the meal was cold. The queues for breakfast were ridiculous. Unacceptable! Why do you keep the sun beds out in the rain? The following day when the sun came out they were soaking wet and we could not sit on them. All other hotels collect in the sun bed mattresses to keep them dry and clean . The area round the pool was poorly managed. It was hard to find towels, I opened one of the wooden cupboards round the pool only to find a dirty nappy and rubbish. The kids club was average ,more enthusiasm from the staff required. The above points do not reflect a 5 star hotel. On a positive note the rooms were well appointed as were the bathrooms, however there was a horrible stain on the headboard....Room 102. The spa was excellent. Well managed, friendly staff. Those facilities were excellent.

Poor quality and selection of F&B. No bar facilities after 10pm. Breakfast can be chaotic with waiting queues of up to 20 minutes. Car parking charge of 25Euros - excessive and unnecessary given isolated location. “We are full” is not a valid excuse for poor service. The entities objective of a. Luxury 5star hotel is that it’s well equipped to handle busy periods. Rooms luxurious and well appointed. Not enough sun beds at peak periods. Feels like 3 star service and F&B - not 5 star luxury. Everything was difficult - involved waiting, sending cold items of food back, correcting orders, repeatedly asking for things and often being told “no, I’m afraid we’re too busy”

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful resort. It’s modern, well designed, immaculately clean and staff are very friendly. The team feels new so needs to work on improving service efficiency to reach that signature Fairmont standard.
