Cons - when we arrived, we had seen an offer on your own website, stay 3 nights, get a 4th night free. We had originally booked only 2 nights and asked about paying extra to stay for 4 nights. The girl on reception knew nothing about the offer on your own website - said she would check with her manager and get back to us. She never did, so we are now staying at the new Amare hotel in Sancti Petri for the extra 2 nights - your loss!!! We walked down to the beach to have a beer at the beach bar but it was shut! There were no signs to tell us this!! I know the golf course is not owned by you, but my husband played the course and I went in the buggy for a ride and was charged €25 for not even playing golf! My husband has played golf all over the world and never ever have I been charged for sitting as a passenger in the golf cart!! We asked room service for some ice and it took 3 phone calls and 30 minutes for it to come. Not what you would expect from an expensive 5 star hotel. Pool could have been heated. Pros - fabulous bed, best ever we have had!! Great room. Great views. Good breakfast.

We stayed in the Fairmont in early May and it was a fantastic experience. The objective of our stay was pure relaxation and the Fairmont gave us everything we wanted. Our sea view room was beautifully designed, very spacious, comfortable king size bed and the balcony facing the Mediterranean was incredible. A nice touch given how new the hotel is that the plug sockets had USBC chargers. Breakfast buffet had plenty of options, and the seating area outside overlooking the Mediterranean was stunning. Perfect way to start the money. Breakfast runs from 7:30 till 11:30 which means you don’t have that rush in the morning to go for breakfast and can have a proper lie in. A benefit of Spain being in the wrong time zone and with very long summer evenings even at the beginning of May. The pool area is very well laid out with two smaller pools to accommodate families. At the pool, the staff regularly take away towels from people who have either left the pool area but didn’t remove their towels which is so important. There seems to be a general etiquette from other guests not to hold beds with their towels first thing in the morning and not return for hours. Maybe because it was May but no matter what time of day we went to the pool, there were still plenty of bed options. Again this gives a relaxed feeling because you don’t have to stress not getting a bed or having to get up early to hold a bed. This is very important during the peak summer season and I wish other hotels would adapt this strategy. The pool staff were great and maybe a recommendation I have seen at other hotels is to have a call button to get the pool staff’s attention. I used the gym several times and it has all the equipment and weights you need with stunning views over the Med. Recommendation is there are signs for the Spa but no mention of the Gym so to help guests who just arrived to help it easier. Overall, all the staff from the main entrance, reception, bar staff, concierge, pool and restaurant and breakfast buffet were extremely friendly and very helpful. We rented a car and parked in the hotel for €25 a day but there is a valet to take the car to the basement and you just have to call in advance for them to get the car ready at the front door which was so efficient. For me, location of any hotel is very important, either it is close to a town, plenty of areas to walk, the scenery etc, Prior to booking the Fairmont, we knew it is quite isolated and could be an overall downside. However for those that like to explore local towns or villages or seek a bar or restaurant outside of any hotel grounds we discovered that there a small town La Alcaidesa which is a 15 - 20 min walk from the hotel (downhill & uphill on the way back). This is perfect if you want to grab a drink, go to the supermarket or get a bite to eat. We rented a car and Estepona, San Roque and Gibraltar are all a 20-25 min drive away so it’s perfect. Having the option to stay local too was a nice discovery and this hotel for us ticked all the boxes. We have struggled to find high end hotel resorts with a stunning sea views in Europe (that don’t cost an absolute fortune) and you find these hotels more in the Middle East. We plan to travel back and make it a go to destination for a short sun holiday going forward. Overall a 5 star experience

The hotel is nice, new and lovely views over the sea. Housekeeping was disappointing - milk not replenished (then half an hour wait when more requested), cups not cleaned from day before, etc. Faro restaurant disappointing and what is served is not as described on the menu
