Honestly didn’t come in with high expectations and kind of booked this place last-minute, so I wasn’t expecting much. At first glance, it’s not the fanciest or most polished hotel, and some parts do feel a bit rough around the edges. But after actually staying here, I can say it was way better than I thought. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for my stay. The bed was surprisingly cozy, and I slept really well. Even though the hotel itself isn’t super luxurious, it felt practical and easy to stay in, which honestly matters more. The location was also really convenient, making it easy to get around and explore without any hassle. What really stood out was how comfortable the stay ended up being overall. It’s the kind of place where you don’t stress about small details, but you still feel taken care of. For the price, it was definitely worth it, and I ended up enjoying my stay much more than expected. If you’re looking for a super fancy, picture-perfect hotel, this might not be it. But if you want a chill, affordable place that gets the job done and is actually comfortable, this place is a solid choice. I’d honestly consider staying here again.

Overall, an excellent stay. A few quibbles. The property is beautiful, modern and 5-star all the way. I didn’t realize it was a refurbished older hotel (originally the Hotel Capital) until I noticed the name on the bill for room charges. We’re from Las Vegas, with a lot of decadent properties on (and off) the Strip, and Mondrian Itaewon is fantastic. Service was exquisite. Staff were flawlessly helpful on several interactions, including laundry service, and room cleaning out of housekeeping’s normal rounds. Customer service from everyone we encountered was beyond outstanding. Room was small but comfortable and very handsomely appointed (I would actually like to pattern my master bathroom remodel on our room’s bathroom, with terrazzo, nice tile, steel and corrugated glass - and a very nice waterfall shower). The bed was very comfortable, and the in-room water filter came in handy. Much better and environmentally sound than complimentary bottled water in the fridge. Breakfast buffet at Cleo was excellent (get it bundled into your room reservation; walk-in price is exorbitant). My spouse noticed it was the same from day to day. I didn’t mind; it was a varied enough menu that I could change it up during our stay. Public spaces are gorgeous. There are several other fine dining options on property, as well as a Coffee Bean in the lobby and a patisserie and convenience store in the basement arcade. Location is somewhat isolated (by a kilometer and a hill) from the Itaewon shopping and drinking streets, as well as the Metro station. This is a plus and a minus; a plus for a quiet stay, a minus for accessibility if you like to roam. Taxis have no trouble picking up and dropping off. I was a bit taken aback that when we arrived, our room was very hot, in December. Fiddling with the thermostat was no help. When I called the desk, they advised that the aircon was turned off for the winter, and to open the window to cool down the room. This absolutely worked out fine. However, it’s not the solution one would expect to be presented with by a 5-star property. It was efficient and effective, but a bit unseemly considering the prestige level of the Mondrian. Overall, a lovely stay. But do note if you want to be in the thick of the action in Itaewon, you will travel a bit. Once you’re done clubbing or shopping, it’ll be a great respite for you.

Well located. Fun and quirky hotel. Room service food could be improved taste wise. Staff was very attentive. Shower leaked water onto the floor.
