Terry Oh, Night Staff, TERRIBLE ATTITUDE

I am writing to formally complain about the conduct of the night staff, Terry Oh. Late in the evening, I called the hotel to check on my wife, who was outside the property at the time and just arrived back. I simply requested to be transferred to her room and speak with her to ensure she was safe as she is traveling alone. Terry’s response was shockingly inappropriate. He was rude, dismissive, and, most concerningly, spoke on behalf of my wife, stating that she “did not want to talk,” without her having communicated this to him in my presence. His tone was aggressive and condescending, and his behavior went far beyond what is acceptable for someone in a managerial role. I used to work for owners for hotel management companies in US and Asia and never in my life experienced such rudeness. Eventually, I was able to speak to my wife directly by phone and wish her goodnight, which made it clear that Terry had no authority to speak for her or to insert himself in that manner. This is not a minor issue. A night staff has a duty of care, especially during late hours. If a situation had escalated or if something had happened to my wife, his conduct would have been deeply troubling and potentially dangerous. Speaking on behalf of a guest, particularly in a situation involving personal safety, is entirely unacceptable. Terry Oh demonstrated extremely poor judgment and a complete lack of professionalism. Someone with this attitude and decision making should not be representing your hotel, especially overnight when guests are most vulnerable. I would suggest replacing Terry Oh with someone more competent. I strongly urge management to take this matter seriously and to remove this individual from any guest facing or supervisory role. His behavior reflects badly on the hotel, the ownership, and the management group as a whole.
