We have been to lunch with the Grinch!! What an experience, so funny and interactive, great for older children too. The lunch was a hot and cold buffet with the added bonus of a pancake machine. Excellent value for money!!

I stayed at this hotel with a friend as part of a coach party so we arrived en masse. Check in was pretty smooth, no porterage available but we managed. The Receptionist/Front of House, Nicola, was very welcoming, attentive and friendly and an excellent ambassador for the hotel. We had a lighting issue in our bedroom which Nicola arranged to be sorted promptly. The public areas of the hotel are very smart, especially when dressed for Christmas. However, our bedroom is best described as 'tired'. Unfortunately, we didn't have any doors on the wardrobe, we were not sure why. They doors are normally mirrored, therefore, we didn't have a full length mirror in our room. I understand the pot of money for refurbishments has to be rolled out amongst a lot of hotels within the group but basic lighting/furniture requirements in the bedroom in this hotel need to be addressed. The food was a bit hit and miss but on the whole it was fine. Peas are always a deal breaker and they were! The grounds, gardens and lake are stunning. Surrounded by such beauty it's unbelievable that you're virtually in the middle of a city. The Hotel Staff tried really hard to ensure everyone was happy and on the whole, I believe they did an excellent job. Well done ✅.

Everything was good, just one small point - no Henderson's Relish for the Hash Brown's at breakfast. My stay was in Sheffield, the home of Hendo's.

The overall experience for my 70th birthday was good. Breakfast very good selection. Cannot fault the staff. One down side was quality of room even though we were upgraded furniture was a bit tired and bed too soft. Overall it did make a memorable birthday experience.
