Prior to the stay, I did not appreciate being contacted to make a bank deposit via WhatsApp to secure my stay. I booked the only option through the ALL app which had no prepayment required. If the hotel wishes to have upfront payment, they should have this option available. This negatively impacted the experience, as otherwise the stay was pleasant.

I recently stayed at the Novotel Karawang and was quite let down by the overall experience. While the room itself was decent, many other aspects of the hotel fell short of the 4-star rating. The front desk staff seemed quite uninformed, unable to properly answer my questions or provide the promised welcome drink. The breakfast buffet was terrible, with many empty trays that were not promptly refilled by the staff. The Indomie noodle station had excessively salty broth, and the egg station items were also overly salted. It was clear the kitchen was struggling to maintain quality and consistency. The pool area was dirty and had visible algae buildup, and there were even cockroaches present. The gym also had an unpleasant mildew odor. Most of the other guests appeared to be business travelers rather than leisure guests. Overall, I would not recommend the Novotel Karawang, as it falls well short of a 4-star hotel experience. The Mercure Karawang would likely be a much better choice in the area. I expected far more from the Novotel brand.

Breakfast and dinner were good, but options are limited. Room and pillows were smelling bad.
