Nice Stay with Potential, but Service Consistency Needs Serious Attention

Reception Wani at reception was warm and friendly — thank you for that. Unfortunately, the check-in felt rushed and lacked essential information. Details about the pool, gym, and Wi-Fi access were not explained. In most Mercure hotels, this is standard SOP. Only breakfast and floor preference were mentioned. A clearer and more complete briefing would be greatly to improve the arrival experience. Restaurant Resti (waitress) was kind and sincere — she just needs more confidence when explaining menu items. She has good potential. The grilled ribs were enjoyable. However, the Ketoprak Harum Wangi was far below expectations for a featured local dish. Serving peanut sauce in a teapot may look aesthetic, but functionally it fails. The sauce portion was insufficient compared to the large serving. The vermicelli was watery and poorly drained, and the peanut sauce texture was coarse and not well blended. It honestly did not reflect authentic ketoprak. If this is meant to represent Indonesian cuisine, more research and care are needed. International guests deserve a better introduction to local food. Welcome drink information was inconsistent. Initially, I was told any drink was allowed. Later, another waiter stated only juice was included. This inconsistency — combined with a rather unfriendly tone — It shows a need for better staff alignment and training. Room The room was very spacious, clean in design, and comfortable. The view was also excellent. There was only one major issue: the hot water did not work properly. I had to run the hot water for 8–10 minutes, even with the handle turned fully to hot, and it still never became truly hot — only slightly warm. I called a technician, but he did not appear experienced or proactive. He simply said I needed to wait longer, which I found quite amusing. Imagine returning to the hotel late at night and having to wait 10 minutes just for warm water — and even then, it was not hot. Unfortunately, the issue was never resolved, and I had no choice but to accept the bathroom water system as it was. Additional Note The hotel also does not provide holding or receiving service for outside food deliveries (which I understand is part of their policy). However, this makes it even more important to maintain strong food quality in the hotel restaurant. For guests ordering food from outside, it would be best to arrange direct meet-ups with the courier. Clear communication of this policy to guests would also be helpful to avoid confusion.
