My daughter, son in law and I stayed for 3 nights while my newborn grandson had surgery. Unfortunately he passed away and the staff allowed us a late check out to give us extra time in the hospital

Hotel is conveniently located with the children’s hospital & a 10 minute walk to Royal Melbourne hospital which was perfect for this stay. Staff always friendly & efficient when booking & also when needing to change bookings due to hospital date changes. Also accommodated our request to have 2 rooms next to each other. The onsite restaurant Farmacy was great for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Last time we stayed we were offered 10% discount at the Farmacy but not this time which was disappointing as it does help the budget when staying multiple days.

We enjoyed our stay, whilst disappointed that we had to pay above what we believed was the agreed maximum charge for our family whilst attending appointments at the Royal Children's Hospital.

Thank you also for your kind words about the service I provided. It was a pleasure assisting you during your stay. I’m sorry for the confusion and disappointment regarding the room rate. Unfortunately, our Standard King rooms, which are available at the $180 hospital rate, were fully booked during your stay. As a result, we reserved our next most affordable room type under the hospital rate, the Parkview King, at $200 per night. While we always do our best to offer the lowest available rate, this can sometimes be affected by room availability and hotel occupancy. We understand this may not have been what you were expecting and appreciate your understanding. We also appreciate you bringing the coffee cup marks on the bedside tables to our attention, along with your support for our sustainability efforts. The first room we were allocated smelled overwhelmingly like sewage. When we went and asked for a new room the front desk were not surprised or apologetic they just gave us a new room. The new room was dirty. The table had not been wiped down and the floor was not vaccumed. By this time we’re too tired after a very long day so we decided to just wipe the table down ourselves.

Good afternoon Deborah, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sincerely sorry for the disappointing experience you had during your stay. We apologise that your first room had an overwhelming sewage smell and, when you raised this with our Front Desk team, that your concerns were not met with the level of care and apology you should have received. We understand how frustrating this would have been, particularly after a long day of travel. It is equally disappointing to hear that the replacement room had not been properly cleaned, with the table requiring wiping and the floor not being vacuumed to our usual standards. This falls well below the standards we expect for our rooms. We are particularly sorry that, after an already long day, you felt you had to clean the table yourself rather than being able to simply settle in and rest. Your feedback has been shared with our Housekeeping and Front Office teams so that we can address these shortcomings and ensure greater attention is given to both room presentation and guest care. Please accept our sincere apologies. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention and hope we can have the opportunity to restore your confidence in The Larwill Studio. There was a terrible smell in the rooms - it seemed like a sewer smell. Rooms were cleaned daily but empty room service rubbish etc wasn'ty taken and smelt when I returned back. Towel supply was poor and they were horrible, rough and old. And the bath mat was more the size of a hand towel. As per instructions from reception and all the signage in the hotel, it says the Restaurant is open til 8pm with the kitchen closing 15min prior. I went down at around 7.15 for a meal on the Thursday (as did another family) and we were told the kitchen was already closed. I told them that wasn't good enough as it's advertised as being open and after a bit of convincing they decided to seat us and the other guests, but we felt rushed to leave. This is my second stay here I use it for work purposes however, when I stayed a few years ago I remember it as being much nicer. The table in the room was wonky, with a broken leg and access to charging points for phones next to the beds was very poor. I ended up having to move the beds/tables around to be able to access them. All in all, it was a good stay. But there is a lot that needs improving and fixing.

The king bed guest room was spacious and comes with a desk, two chairs, a reclining sofa, and a Nespresso coffee machine. What is missing are espresso-sized cups that would fit the coffee machine. The bathroom is spacious and there is plenty of space behind the wash basin to place your personal toiletries. The bed is very comfortable and the bedlinen was silky smooth and nice to touch.

The room was ok. Didn’t realise my daughter would be on a trundle bed. Aircon didn’t work so temp in room exceeded 25 degrees. Had to open door to hall way to let some cool air in. I don’t believe it was worth the price I paid

We sincerely apologise that the trundle bed arrangement was not as expected and that the appropriate information was not passed onto yourself from your travel booker. We also apologise the air conditioning was not operating correctly during your stay. We understand how uncomfortable this would have been, particularly with the room temperature exceeding 25°C. We are always here to assist with any issues relating to the air conditioning and would have been happy to assist in adjusting the temperature to your desired comfort level. Great service and friendly staff just a pity the shower wasn’t clean. The soap rack had soap all over it from the previous patrons. I mentioned it on check out and was told I’ll get housekeeping to look at it, no apology.

I didn't mind the stay. It was just upsetting to see how downhill the place has gotten. Our room in particular had ~ broken towel rack and a faulty, stuck toilet button for flushing; the ironing board was snapped and stood crooked, the tap in the hand basin moved (it shouldn't), and a cigarette was under my bed! There was dust all over the 'extras' on the glass-top table. They hadn't stocked the room either. There was no milk or sugar. I did let reception know on check out so hopefully these things are attended to.

This hotel is always a fun stay with the focus on David Larwill's colourful and creative art. Staff are great, beds are comfortable and Royal Park offers a chance to relax in a bit of nature. The only disappointment was that there was no bar or restaurant facilities open on a Saturday night.

Great location. Good price. I don't like the liquid soap rather than bars. Too many LED lights at night but no different to other hotels.
