Just to clarify, the standard hospital parking rate is $39 per day and doesn’t include multiple entries and exits. The $70 weekly rate is available if your car remains parked for the full week without being taken in and out. Our $28 hotel guest rate allows multiple entries and exits, so for guests coming and going, this can often work out to be the more flexible option. Our reception team will always be happy to talk through the different options and work out what will be the most cost-effective based on your plans. The whole stay was great, though the need to go to Reception for a parking ticket was a pain. Also, $28 a day when the actual car park was $70 for a week seemed like a poor deal

Had a great 2 night stay with my 3 year old son who had an appt at RCH. The room was light, spacious, and had everything we needed (plus a microwave and pod coffee machine which I wasn't expecting). Everything was clean and comfortable.

Generally had a positive experience while staying at Larwill Studio Melbourne although the parking component of the stay was very confusing, to the point where the secure parking was not used.

The accommodation was fine as per normal, check in was long as there was only 1 staff member doing check in. We travel to the Royal children's regularly and always stay at the Larwill for ease. This was our 5th or 6th visit this year from memory including a 3 night stay in July. We were disappointed to find the price substantially more expensive than normal. Given we aren't travelling for fun, holidays or the show, this was incredibly disappointing. The government rebate will not cover 1/4 of the cost of 1 night accommodation. Add in the 6-8 week wait for rebate and multiple day wait for the$100 bond makes it a very expensive trip. Unfortunately living 4 hours from Melbourne with an early appointment it isn't possible for a day trip so we have to stay overnight. The surgeon is very difficult to change appointments so we couldn't do so, I did try. This is a substantial financial burden on our family for an almost compulsory stay. The normal $200-250 is hard enough for our family but just under $400 was not good when you need to buy food and pay for fuel as well. The price was the absolute disappointment of this trip.

We truly appreciate your loyalty and understand that these stays are a necessary part of your family’s hospital visits, rather than a holiday or leisure trip. We’re very sorry that the higher room rate added such a significant financial burden to this visit. Your stay coincided with the AFL Grand Final weekend, which does result in substantially higher demand and room rates across Melbourne. That said, we completely understand your disappointment, particularly given the circumstances of your travel and the additional costs involved with each hospital visit. We also apologise that your check-in took longer than usual. During this time of day, our team can be assisting guests in their rooms or attending to other guest needs, and unfortunately we weren’t able to speed up the check-in process on this occasion. We understand that after travelling several hours for an early appointment, a quick arrival is especially important. Lastly, we’re sorry about the early wake-up from the alarm left in the room. We’ll remind our housekeeping team to check and reset alarms when preparing rooms for incoming guests. We truly appreciate your continued support and understand the financial pressure these regular stays can place on your family. We hope to continue being a convenient and comfortable home away from home for you whenever you need to visit the Royal Children’s Hospital. Kind regards, Caitlin

I found the demand pricing frustrating and when I booked a second night at reception, we got told we were getting special cheaper hospital rates but when I checked Accor after paying, I could have got it cheaper there. The first night was great value at $299 but the second at almost $600 was not (same room)!

You stayed with us in the week leading up to the AFL Grand Final, when demand and room rates across Melbourne were significantly higher. Your first night was $236.55 and the second was $389.00 for the same room type. When booking at reception, we always cross-check our hospital rate against the standard rate and book whichever is cheaper on the day. We’re sorry we were unable to make the second night any cheaper for you. We also apologise for the blood stain you encountered in your first room. This certainly isn’t the standard we aim for and we’ll be following this up with our housekeeping team. We appreciate your feedback on the coffee pods and understand your concerns around waste. Car parking with multiple entry/exits allowed is a huge relief even though the process is cumbersome and quite expensive ($28 on a Saturday night). Upgrade to a corner room gives you fantastic city views.

The under blind facing toward park continued to fall down, and wouldn't stay up. The doona which had the sheet over it, was very marked and stain in several areas. Not great..

My son and I were in Melbourne for a weekend hockey tournament at the State centre. The Larwill was close and affordable. Clean and cozy with great food options 2-5mins away. Breakfast at the Farmacy was awesome and I am looking forward to returning to have a dinner there. Staff were very helpful and parking easy.

Although we have stayed at Larwill many times before this was the first time we had experienced the smell. I wasn’t happy with the way the person on the desk dealt with me. I asked about the smell in the room and she said “did you move the bath mat from the vent”, and I said that yes there was a bath mat on the floor but I did not know that it was meant to be there - we moved it after showing and when we got back to the apartment later the room smelt very bad. She said I should not have moved the mat. I told her I did not know I had to keep it there. Also it was not my fault the room smells. She told me she could not do anything about the smell as it is a known problem. Having a room that smells like sewage is not great. We have spent many stays at Larwill and hope you can fix this issue. Also can you please speak to your staff? It is not my fault that I moved the mat when I didn’t even know it was an issue. We love the location and the twin beds. I have booked again for this coming weekend and hope to not have a room that smells.

A treatment was available to address the issue and was mentioned to you as well, although our team member did not recommend using it while the room was occupied. As you had two rooms, we were also pleased to be able to extend the room that was not affected by the odour. First time staying at The Larwill Studio. Restaurant at ground level was great but unfortunately I did not try the evening meals but breakfast superb. Work was around the Hospitals so very convenient. Room was clean and well designed.

Our room was great. Very peaceful and great outlook over park. Hotel staff very helpful. Two issues: I was bitten by something in our room on my legs, arms and neck. I showed the bites to a staff member on Sunday morning at checkout and advised that room need thorough cleaning. Second issue: why have a bath tub that is slippery when wet in a hotel? I requested a bath mat and an obliging staff member was able to supply one. They should be provided as a matter of course.
