First time staying at a Banyan Tree . Excellent hotel. The view from the rooms are outstanding as well as the staff . Next door to Pavillion centre and central to main attractions of KL. Have stayed in many 5 star hotels but i felt this had a bery private atmosphere

Perfect location, phenomenal views, wonderful rooms, super comfy bed and obliging staff. The Good Fabulous location as it is adjacent to the Pavilion Shopping Centre connected via a foot bridge. Reception is on the 53rd floor with guest rooms above. I always love a high floor so there was nothing to worry about here. I had booked their Signature Sky Retreat room which I believe is their basic room but there is nothing basic about it. The room is very spacious and benefits from floor to ceiling windows in both the room and vast bathroom affording fabulous views of the Petronas Tower and KL which looked great during the day but were breathtaking once nighttime fell. The bed and pillows are very comfy and plush. The welcome amenity was extremely generous consisting of a huge solid chocolate heart which was rich and indulgent, along with smaller chocolates and fresh fruit. The bathroom runs the entire length of the room and benefits from his and her sinks, huge mirrors and one of those special Japanese toilets with all the different functions. One end of the bathroom is a separated wet room area which incorporates the shower and bath. The shower is very nice with its normal shower head with different settings and ceiling mounted rainfall shower which also has different settings and jets. The highlight has to be the huge eggshell bath, positioned right next to the floor to ceiling windows, allowing you to comfortably lounge in the bath whilst enjoying the view of KL below. The pool is also located on the 53rd floor and has a limited number of loungers. I visited in the evening to cool off and noticed that it is covered, so I am not sure how much sun reaches the loungers. Dinner at the Horizon Grill was another highlight and deserves its own separate review. Suffice to say that the food and service were absolutely on point. Breakfast is served in the same restaurant and is a combination of a small buffet and an a la carte menu. The food was quite good, perfectly pleasant but not exceptional. Service again was very good. The bar area which occupies the highest floors of the building are an amazing place to have a drink and enjoy the views. As you can imagine it does get busy, so I liked the fact that some tables had been reserved for hotel guests. The Bad My main gripe is that the air conditioning could not be set low enough. Even though the display read 18C, it was nowhere near this temperature, and it was quite hot in the room. Having complained to reception, an engineer came to check and confirmed that this was as low as the system could go and that it was working correctly. I was not happy with this and complained further at reception who said they would see what they could do. In the end, they managed to get engineering to do something to the system which ensured that it would constantly pump out cold air. They warned me that I wouldn’t be able to adjust the temperature up, it was either full cold or nothing. However, this completely fixed the problem and to be honest I never found a need to adjust the temperature up at all. I have added this to the ‘Bad’ section, as I am sure other visitors from colder climes will want a cooler room, but full marks must be given to all the staff who went out of their way to resolve the issue demonstrating exemplary 5-star hotel service.

We were visiting Kuala Lumpur for a few days as part of a longer transit when heading back to Europe. This hotel has amazing service and rooms. We can also highly recommend to book the breakfast as it was very delicios. In addition, you will stay in a room upwork the 54th level which guarantees you an amazing view! The pool is also worth a try. And while I didn’t had time to actually train in the gym, it looks new and contains high quality training devices from TechnoGym.
