Stayed in the superior room (The Works) Nice and spacious as we booked the larger room but sadly couldn't open any windows for ventilation which very disappointed about. Excellent location, with the station a 2 minute walk, coffee shops, Tesco, restaurants and takeaways all around you, all in all a great low key hotel. Had handful of soft spots in the flooring in our room which needs addressing before it becomes a safety matter. Also disappointed that I had made a special request which was both ignored and not even responded too. Nice social, chillout area. Staff are on site 24/7.

Several weeks prior to our arrival, we booked a "The Works" room for 2 nights. We specifically requested a quiet room on a high floor, away from the street. When we checked in at 5:30 p.m., we were given room 661 and told it was on the ground floor. (The staff member gave a strange explanation about what happened with room numbering, sharing that rooms with 800 numbers are actually in the basement.) While the room was spacious, it was located at the front of the hotel adjacent to the street and the active bus stop. The room was anything but quiet. The staff at the front check-in table (they haven't got a proper reception area) informed us that all other rooms of this type were already checked in and there was nothing they could do. Clearly, our special request, which could easily have been accommodated had staff cared enough to block a room of this type on a higher floor away from the street in advance, was completely ignored. We checked out after the first night and found a lovely hotel that was more than willing to accommodate us. Sacrificing one night's room rate and having to take the time to travel with our luggage to another property were more than made up for by the kind and welcoming treatment and comfortable, roomy accommodation at the other property. Should you think about staying at this hotel, be advised: It's strange. As noted above, there's no reception area. The hotel is full of quirky narrow staircases, with rooms oddly placed on half-floors. The Double rooms are tiny; you'll hit your knees on the wall if you try to get up from the side of the bed. There are no hand towels, just one bath towel per person. Staff are friendly but apologetic and not helpful. And the street side on Cromwell is VERY noisy. Yes, the rates are cheap, so you might get what you pay for. But if you want quiet accommodations and good service, seek any other place!

I am a silver Accor member and pre booked two months ahead of stay at a special member discount. Checked into hotel and was given the tiniest room, the TV screen was so large it was impossible to walk around the bed. The room must be almost impossible to clean and make up the bed as there was no space around the bed. A large person would have found it impossible to get from the bed to the en suite. To add insult to this I checked back to see what I had paid, and found if I had booked on the actual day as a member it would have been nearly £20 cheaper, I could even go to Booking.com as a non member and get the same price I had paid. We told the receptionist about the size of the room given and she laughed and said it was not the smallest room! I would like to think as an Accor silver member there would be some privileges given, I had assumed incorrectly that we got preferential rates, I also would assume that you may get given a slightly better room if available. I have contacted Accor directly about this but have had no response to date.

Issue 1: Room: When we arrived for our five-night stay, the hotel had failed to recognise our silver status and attempted to upgrade our room. They gave us a terrible room on the ground floor. After we complained, they moved us to a room with a toilet designed for disabled people. However, we were unable to move the shower chair to take a proper shower. After complaining again and speaking to the manager, he moved us to a room in the attic. Despite its small size, we accepted this room as it was more in line with Accor standards, and we stayed in it for the five nights. Issue 2: breakfast takeaway request. As we were leaving for the airport at 5 am on Sunday and had paid for breakfast that day, we asked reception on Thursday if they could prepare a small breakfast for us to take away. They said it was OK and took down our order for bread, cheese and coffee. The day before, on Saturday, we checked with reception to confirm that our order would be ready at 5 am the next day. However, they had made no preparations for our request. There were no notes, either digital or on Post-its (which seems to be how they operate...). We asked again and they assured us that a small breakfast would be ready to collect the next morning. The next morning, however, there was no breakfast waiting for us. If they couldn't fulfil the request, they should have told us. We were expecting to have something to eat before travelling to Gatwick. Issue 3: cleaning. If you want a hotel with carpeted floors, you have to vacuum them. This should be done in both the rooms and the hallways. Overall, the location is great, but the manager and staff need to treat all paying customers, especially loyalty members, with more care. As an Accor loyal customer, I did not expect this level of service in London. Thank you.

The location is excellent, staff really friendly and breakfast was great. The rooms are on the small size. We booked an extra night to start our stay a day earlier. The room (214) we were allocated was not suitable for 2 people. You had to shuffle sideways past the bed to get to the bathroom and the cold water pressure in the bathroom was non existent.

Myself and my wife stayed here for 4 nights; check in was very smooth and we were actually upgraded to a room with a massive balcony, they also gave us some Prosecco and snacks along with a lovely card since we were married last week! The room was lovely, and the staff are ready to help with anything 24 hours a day. Erica and Abdullah at reception were fantastic; everyone was but these were the only names we recall, also elena and her colleague at breakfast were great! The whole team here is excellent and the location couldn’t be better for local amenities and access to underground, buses etc.
