I have stayed three times at this hotel and on the third experience, I was put on the 9th floor which was away from noise so appreciated but the room was freezing, the shower did not work and it looked like it needed a refurbishment. Considering it was my third stay and on my previous stays I had enjoyed it, I was less than impressed.

Easy to book in, friendly staff smart uniform, Helpful. The George and Dragon was clean and the staff friendly and the bar very good we did not eat in there but the menu looked good. Room clean and only complaint sink was blocked so took long time to empty. Bed good and plenty of cupboards and draws. The tea and coffee and milk good biscuits would of been a nice thing to have. In the bathroom no shower cap. Overall good.

The place was musty and felt old. It is in need of updates. The carpet felt old and even just a fresh coat of paint on the drab rundown walls would help, or update the furniture. It felt like going back in time 20 years.

I had a very pleasant stay. Location Parking and facilities were all good. The room was comfortable if a little small. Particularly liked the bar/pub. My only criticism is that housekeeping did not respect my late check out and tried to get into room on more than one occasion despite having a do not disturb on the door !

The stay was comfortable as usual, and the staff are all very helpful, friendly and welcoming. However, as a regular returning guest there is one issue that I feel I should mention and that covers the changes made to the checking in process. As with most hotels, checking in used to be at the main checking in desk, it has now been moved out into the open entrance area. I feel that this is to the detriment of both the staff and customers, it removes any protection that the staff may have had from roudy or troublesome clients. It also potentiall puts customer data at risk as the customer details are brough up on the checking in screens that are being operated by the staff. My belief is that the staff should be better protected behind the checking in desks, and also there would be minimal risk to customer data.

The recepcion staff in general has been apathetic and there has not been any interest for our well-being. When we checked out and left our luggage in closed storage, the lady who attended us was not very friendly.

The only downside to our visit was that both the bedroom and lounge were very cold. The thermostat was set to 30 degrees in both rooms but it didn't seem to make any difference. We had to plug in electric heaters which weren't really adequate.

Your ability to deal with one issue was not good and made my stay stressful and disappointing.

I stayed in room 846 and apart from the first time I entered the room I don’t think I was able to enter the room without help which meant that at least on 2 occasions I had to go down to reception from 8th floor. In total I had 4 different room cards. I spoke to at least 5/6 different people about it - one of them twice and including the gentleman I complained to when I left. I was told variously - that it was all known that there was a problem in the hotel with the key cards/ that there was no problem with key cards/ that maybe I shouldn’t carry it near my mobile phone/ there was a ‘trick’ to it by doing it slowly implying I was not skilful enough to understand the complexities of such a key card. Of the people I spoke to 2 definitely did not apologise - and 1 apologised at the end of the conversation- only when he realised how strongly I felt and after I had made it clear I would complain. . It was clear to me that there was no joined Up thinking in your hotel - you regard your guest as numbers and not people. I doubt anyone has looked at that room key since I complained. Secondly I ordered a taxi through your hotel yesterday morning - I was told that the receptionist would point me out to the driver but that didn’t happen. The driver came in and wandered around - I saw him doing so -but had no idea who he was - the receptionist expected him to come to her - he didn’t know that and so never the twain met. May I suggest you update your protocol and training so guests are not kept waiting whilst there is a lack of communication in the main participants in the organisation of the taxi booking. Finally my check out time was 12 noon - in fact my door was knocked at 08.15am and later at about 10.50am and I realised that housekeeping were anxious to get into my room and did not seem to realise what check out time was. Otherwise the hotel was clean and was sufficient but I was really fed up with the key saga. Made a booking for 2 rooms to stay 2 nights then required one room for an earlier night. Resulted in 2 rooms 4 floors apart. One twin room had light switches behind mattress end resulting in light coming on in middle of night. Pleasant staff. Breakfast middling. Significantly cheaper to book via lastminute than direct. Would return though. Good value.

Room was a decent size, wasn't too cramped which we really appreciated after staying in smaller sized double bed hotel rooms. Shower water temperature was ok. Was good to be a short walk to the tube station and shops. Housekeeping was efficient.
