Fantastic staycation at Fairmont Makati

It was our first time to stay at Fairmont Makati and the overall experience was fantastic. We had to go through a few inconveniences but the service of the impeccable staff and the quick action from the duty manager more than made up for all the hassle. LONG WAIT FOR OUR ROOM AND THE STAFF’S EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. We were greeted with warm smiles by the staff upon stepping into the lobby. We booked two rooms with double beds, but the rooms were not ready yet when we arrived. Apparently, they’ve had a busy Friday with rooms at full occupancy. We accepted the staff’s offer to switch one of our rooms into a king bed while we waited for the other room to be ready. It turned out to be a long, two-and-a-half hour wait, which really cast a pall over what should have been a relaxed weekend staycation. In any case, they were quick to offer that they can extend our check out time by two hours. I spoke with the duty manager Ron and he was genuinely apologetic about the inconvenience. Later, they sent some fruits and a mini-cake with a small note of apology to our room. We really appreciated this gesture. The duty manager also made an effort to call us in the evening to check on us. Upon checkout, he also offered a free lunch buffet on our next stay by way of apology. We were really impressed by the genuine hospitality and first-class service not only from the duty manager but all the staff. ROOMS. Our rooms were bright and spacious with high ceilings, spotless beds and a pleasant Le Labo scent in the air. True enough, the bathroom amenities provided were from the fancy fragrance brand. We also loved the wireless charging pads and the very mindful, very sustainable refillable water bottles. There was a mini-fridge and a Nespresso Essenza Mini machine with a few complimentary capsules. Overall, the room was fabulous. The pillows were just a little too soft for me so I requested for a few firmer ones. RESTAURANTS. We found Spectrum to be a bit limited in space but nevertheless, the breakfast buffet was topnotch with an array of Western, Chinese, Indian and Filipino selections. The kids loved the champorado and the fluffy pancakes. We can't get enough of the scrumptious siomai and the masala. We also tried the other restaurants in the property including Café Macaron and Writers’ Bar. We especially liked the Bailey’s macarons and the sea salt caramel latte at Café Macaron while we loved the ambience at Writer’s Bar with its floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and high tea concept. There’s also a pianist playing some ambient music. We didn’t get to eat at French brasserie-style restaurant Mireio but we will definitely check it out on our next stay. THE STAFF. The real jewel of Fairmont Makati are the staff with their megawatt smiles and faultless service. In most luxury hotels, guests can be quite unforgiving for the littlest of inconveniences but I found the staff to be responsive, agile and genuine. We can’t wait to go back!

Overall satisfied. Hotel staff was helpful, friendly, attentive, prompt and cheerful for the 6 days stay. One minor feedback for the change of bedsheets (on the 3rd day) was that the bedsheets smelled bad as if it was not dried properly. Not sure why. Wasn’t too pleasant as the smell lingers. 😱
