The room was basic but probably aligns with the price - the mirror in the bedroom was stuck together with duct tape. Evidently the doors don't click closed by themselves because a drunk guy stumbled into my room at 2am which was a little alarming to put it lightly.

unfortunatley this was not a great stay for me. bathroom had black mold and a dirty shower curtain. hole in the floor under my bed. pillows like rocks and seemed to have been bitten from something whilst sleeping.

Excellent receptionist. Everything else was shabby. Thin walls, paint peeling, crappy bathroom, tv with virtually no channels; room cleaning incredibly late, passkeys not working.

My first flight to Wellington, NZ256, was cancelled. The next day, my flight to Wellington, NZ247, was cancelled again. I communicated with the hotel about a cancellation and refund due to force majeure, but the hotel refused to refund. It was already unlucky that my trip was disrupted, and this has resulted in a very poor customer experience. A hotel under the Accor group should not treat its customers this way. I am a high-tier member with both Hilton and Marriott and have never encountered anything like this. It is really terrible. Arrived after check in time which was 2pm. Arrived around 3.40pm rooms was still not ready and had to wait for 20 mins at reception for room to be ready. Housekeepers obviously had to rush as the room was still caked in dust when I checked in. My booking provided the room description as having a hair dryer and mineral water in the room. Neither were available, the reception staff advised they normally don’t provide mineral water in the rooms but when I showed the description in the app, she produced 2 bottles saying here you are. Begs the question whether staff are just lazy or simply don’t understand what the room offerings have. The restaurant in the hotel, albeit managed separately advertised open daily from 0630 to late but was closed on Sunday and Monday all day. On Monday 16 I advised reception that the room was caked in dust and that I would like if housekeeping could dust the room because I have a dust allergy. The lady advised she would attend to this, but when I returned at 6pm the room only had the bed made and I had to call front desk and ask house keeping to dust my room. Housekeeping advised that no one advised them to dust the room. Furthermore the practices of housekeeping is rather questionable because I saw with my own eyes that they use a vacuum cleaner that they use for the floor on the table tops. Thoroughly disgusted with Mercure Abel Tasman as a silver priority member I was afforded any benefit or courtesy as a priority member and will not be staying with your property again.
