This is my fourth stay at Mercure Wellington in 2025 and I have noticed the gradual decline in cleanliness. In my most recent trip while staying in room 607, the room was musty and shower grout was quite dirty. It is sad to see but I will likely look to stay elsewhere in future.

Please work on house keeping as this needs to be reviewed; please ensure cups/glasses are properly cleaned/replaced as well as toiletries are restocked daily. It looked like house keeping was short on supplies .

The reception staff were lovely and the location was amazing, right in the centre of town. I was disappointed by the lack of soundproofing in the room, with a window that could have been from an industrial previous life, little soundproofing around the door, no controllable central air conditioning or heating (there was a small heater and a fan), and an overall feel as though the place was a youth hostel rather than a hotel. Most noticeably, the surfaces were not very clean. Also, there was no on-site breakfast offering. At the very least, I didn’t think the hotel was worthy of the Mercure brand.
