My new wife and I were staying on our wedding night and while the room was very nice, especially because we were given a complimentary upgrade, the package we booked included a breakfast in room and the food that arrived was beyond disappointing. We took a picture and showed it to our family and they were as shocked as we were. Given that we purchased this package to enjoy our breakfast in room as newly weds, this poorly presented and poorly prepared breakfast tainted our whole experience with Sofitel and I’m not sure we will be returning.

Stayed for a complimentary Accor Plus night. Given a nice room on the top floor, though the stereo was broken stuck in a boot loop. Complimentary food gift was ok, and so was breakfast, but not amazing. Ordered towels and had to chase up after 30 minutes. Overall a nice stay, just needs a bit more polish.

The air-conditioning in the room wouldnt go below 21.5 degrees. When mechanical team inspected they said, that was consistent for the whole building and the best I could do was set the AC at 16 degrees and hope that it got a little cooler. Not really a 5 start solution. In the mini bar, there was a laminated card suggesting that due to Covid, the mini bar was removed, but if with a call to the front desk, a mini bar basket could be arranged for delivery. When I called the front desk, they informed me that they no longer provided the basket. Given that the restaurant and bar closed at 10pm, there was no way to get any snacks, which was all I was after. When I challenged the reception staff, they found some crisps and nuts, which they gave me for free. Very nice, but the exchange was not up to 5 star standards.

As an All Accor member I thought the room was very expensive for a standard room - I asked for a bath and was told suites only have baths but no upgrade offered. The room service menu was terrible despite the restaurant downstairs being open. The food was average (fish & chips) asked for a green salad but was told not available and only came with aioli, no other sauce like tomato sauce. And it was very expensive.

After travelling from Auckland on Monday evening, only to face a closed restaurant, I was very disappointed. Given the status of the hotel, if the rooms are available, then so should the restaurant. Needed to relocate a team dinner to the Doubletree. Hotel staff weren’t very helpful at suggesting alternatives.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. The closure of our restaurant on Mondays is 100% a resourcing issue. We quite simply do not have the manning to open the restaurant 7 days. As our business increases it is as frustrating for me to see the lost revenue potential by not opening and its growing, not to mention the compromise in offer. All I can say is this is a key focus for us, to recruit the right people and enough of them to provide a consistent service. I was given a wonderful experience with my stay at the Sofitel from checking in, car valet, a beautiful room, relaxing in the members club finishing with a scrumptious dinner. The following day the breakfast was fantastic and check out was very easy. My car was retrieved and ready for me to drive home.

From the fragrance when you enter the lobby through to the decor and comfort of the room it is always a lovely experience staying here.

Worst stay ever

I am questioning why I am a Platinum Accorplus card holder, one would think, giving four weeks notice of our booking would have been sufficient time for the Hotel to recognize my Platinum status and to make sure I receive value for money, My Wife and were put in what i would describe as the worst room you have. if you look back on my history you would note i normally request for a room on Bolton Street, you dont seem to have any problems keeping a record of my credit card, maybe you need to consider the customer needs a bit more, then we ordered room service, but we didn't even have 2 chairs or table to eat off, when i asked for a table and chair from the Kitchen, i was told this was not his area.

Staff are super friendly and professional. Room was outstanding and service teams were on great. Very happily stay here again next trip to Wellington. Bed was amazingly comfy. Great location, nice to not be in the thick of Courtney Place with the hustle and bustle.

Loved the whole stay. Hotel, room, staff, drinks, food. Will book again next time. The standard of the furnishings and attention to detail on fittings and decor is wonderful. The bar service was very accommodating and we loved the breakfast. Should have had dinner as well.
