Overall a very enjoyable stay. Just one customer service point. I had a glass of wine and a bar snack one evening in the lobby. An hour later, I was fully focused on some work I was doing on my laptop when a waitress placed a small plate of hot chips next to me. In the surprise of the moment, I assumed they were free and I thanked her very warmly. However, when she went to get me a serviette, I realised that she had made a mistake and given them to the wrong person. When she returned with the serviette and I told her this, she swiftly retrieved the chips, did not apologise - and in fact made me think that I was in the wrong. I thought it was a disappointing attitude on her part.

We stayed overnight only, the bed was very comfy and the room temperature was just right. TV was good to watch from bed after a busy day and evening. The bathroom was clean and tidy on arrival as was the room. We dined in at the restaurant which was also very enjoyable and the food delicious.

Inflexible staff at check-in which made me grumpy. Nice room decor which made me relax. Faucet came off in my hand, shower head broken and sprayed everywhere, twin beds pushed together to make a double were different heights so I ended up sleeping up hill. Poached eggs were overcooked. Check out service was wonderful.

Overnight, smaller room than usual, Miss the bottled water, no little extras to welcome back a guest who has stayed many times at the same hotel. Admittedly this was a ‘free night’ due to Accor membership

We stayed for several nights and it was complete bliss. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, the rooms were well stocked and very clean. All of the staff we encountered were helpful and very polite and kind. We only had one meal which was breakfast at the restaurant, but there was plenty to choose from and it was all very fresh and delicious. Location wise it’s smack bang in the middle of the city, so it’s easy to walk everywhere from there.

We loved our night spent at the Sofitel. The bar and restaurant were great - superb meals for all three of us. It was easy to find the hotel and close enough to walk into town. Will definitely be back.

Slightly disappointed with accomodation

We booked for a week through Accor Vacation Club for a bit of luxury on a rare trip away (thanks to COVID). We were slightly disappointed with our accommodation. Bedroom was a bit small. It had little storage and that was full of hotel stuff. Button to request room to be serviced did not work all week. No heated towel rail so changed towels every day. We expected better from the Sofitel. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Room service and restaurant food was excellent.

The welcome was not as warm and friendly as it usually is. There was no regard for our loyalty, not even the offer of a bottle of water - on arrival or on departure. There was no offer of any kind of upgrade or access to the lounge or any sense that we were valued customers. Even the valet parking has changed - where it was previously complimentary for an electric car (because there was no provision to charge our car) but that has changed to only fully electrical cars - a reduction in service. We left thinking perhaps it was time to consider a different hotel.

You have touched on a number of key elements and I appreciate the detailed feedback. The lounge upgrade and room upgrades are subject to our business volumes. That is probably the biggest change, we have ramped up with open borders faster than expected and our products and pricing, and adherence to our upgrade rules have had to respond. The change to charging for hybrid cars is a direct result of an increase in the third party costing of the parking we pay for ourselves which increased 10% in April. What a delight to have experienced the yellow bellied flounder it was fabulous and the galaxy dessert made my eyes pop - great to have such quality. Loved the room, really appreciated the quality bed and linen. Thank you. I was starting to get despondent with hotel stays and you turned it around!

Excellent staff who looked after us. Lovely room and good amenities. I am so pleaded we stayed. I thought breakfast was good+ but a little disappointed with dinner menu for my taste. The fish was cooked perfectly but little in the way of choice for vegetables which was a shame.

No one greet me and get my car key from me when parking in front of the hotel entrance because I had rented a car and would like to park in the hotel parking. I had to drive away again to give way to a cab to pick up AirNZ staff. Bad experience!

Used our Accor suite night upgrades to get the second best suite for a very reasonable price, as a treat for our wedding anniversary. Everything went very well. Nice breakfast each day with a la carte and buffet options. Dinner one night at Jardin which was very pleasant. Took advantage of the club lounge each evening, the selection of snacks was very good. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Staff are super friendly and professional. Room was outstanding and service teams were on great. Very happily stay here again next trip to Wellington. Bed was amazingly comfy. Great location, nice to not be in the thick of Courtney Place with the hustle and bustle.
