Staff were great, room was very stylish, and comfortable. A couple of very minor (first world) niggles. Shortage of normal tea bags in the room and it’s nice to have bottles of chilled water in the fridge….

We had an extremely enjoyable stay. The hotel is located up a very steep hill; quiet a challenge with our suitcases, however, it is well located for Parliament, shops and transport to restaurants. We stayed in a club corner room, which had nice views. Despite the hotel being very busy (in fact it was full), the staff (particularly one of the male receptionists who helped me when I thought I had lost my credit cards in the lift and the waiter who served us at breakfast), were amazing. The breakfast was also superb. We particularly liked all the local products used in the buffet and the eggs were the best we had ever eaten! The club was also great with a good choice of snacks and drinks.

The hotel was in a great location with a very good breakfast. The reason for the poor review is that we came back to our hotel room close to 11pm on the second night with the floor flooded with water and dark. We were able to enter our room which was fortunately away from the water pipe burst; however, we had to go down to the front desk to be told that we would need to switch rooms. While we were out of the hotel the entire day and evening on an excursion, I would have expected a text, phone call or stop by concierge on our way into the hotel letting us know that a pipe had burst and that we would need to switch rooms vs us finding out the hard way and needing to quickly pack so late in the evening.

Dear Jon, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience you experienced upon returning to the hotel late at night and encountering the flooded area. We deeply regret that you were not informed of this issue before your arrival back. While we were actively working to address the flooding and make the necessary repairs, we unfortunately failed to notify you in a timely manner. Please accept my sincerest apologies for this oversight, as it is not reflective of the level of communication and service we strive to provide to our valued guests. We understand how upsetting and disruptive this situation must have been, especially after a long day. Please be assured that we are taking steps to ensure better communication in the future should unexpected incidents like this occur. If there is anything further, we can do please do not hesitate to contact me directly at Sofitel Wellington.
