Noisy room and poor customer service

We were in room 705 next to a “VIP” lift which should only operate between 6am and 10pm. The lift was very noisy. On the first night it stopped at 10:10 which was ok. On the second night it was still going up and down at 11pm. We phoned down and complained and it finally stopped at 11:30. Then it was used again at 1:30 which woke us up and then started at 5:15 which woke us up again. We complained at checkout and they apologised and promised the manager would get in touch. No response. We emailed the hotel twice and the manager directly once - no response. Our travel agent tried to contact them - no response. So, if you do decide to stay and you are offered a room next to the "VIP" lift do not accept and demand a different room.

Clean room, enjoyed the swim!

We stayed one night and were happy with the staff who were lovely and the room itself was clean and well appointed. I had asked for a garden view when I booked but it didn't eventuate. The valet service was great and the facilities, especially the pool were good. I enjoyed my swim, though some may find it a little cool at first. I was disappointed in the chocolate hour which didn't really have much going for it and there was little chocolate. I had high expectations after seeing photos online but it didn't match the hype. This was sad as it was one of the main reasons we chose to stay at Movenpick. I also found the buffet breakfast not very enjoyable and suggest you ordered a single plate instead. Overall we had a good stay but unfortunately aren't likely to stay again.

The location is excellent - a quiet pocket of the edge of the CBD, just a short walk to Cuba St. The beds were so comfortable, we slept really well. Friendly, helpful staff too. Would absolutely stay again.
