I booked this 2 night stay as a treat for myself, husband and toddler for a cosy winter break with the plan to spend it in the pool and sauna to escape the cold. I am 30 weeks pregnant so was also our last opportunity for a family break. On arrival we were told the pool was ready to use, however on entering the pool area in togs and a towel, there were two workman painting in there in big coats and boots. I didn’t feel comfortable getting in the pool so my husband and little girl did and within 30 seconds were freezing as the pool was so cold!!! Workman in a pool area in big coats should have been a sign. To warm up we thought we would go in the sauna but sadly again greeted with only a 50*degree heat. My husband uses saunas a lot and so after 30minutes of trying to raise the temperature, it only gained 10degrees. We went back to our room for a hot shower to warm up. This was truly disappointing as was our only reason for choosing this specific hotel! We did let the hotel staff know and were told the pool measured at 28degrees but honestly, I tried to get in again the next day and could barely put my legs in. We are a fit, outdoorsy family who surf and swim a lot so we aren’t pathetic but it was so cold! The staff said nothing could be done and that was that. Really dissapointed!!! The hotel staff were polite and the room was lovely but we didn’t come to ‘see the city’ as we have family who live near by. We were not compensated for our stay despite not getting what was offered. What was planned as a pre baby spa days was very different. So yes for a comfortable, clean room and lovely staff- this is a great stay but if you’re wanting to use the spa facilities, look elsewhere sadly.
