The Novotel Wellington is centrally located with access from The Terrace and via a lift off Lampton Quay. The lift needs to be swipe card access only though, as a homeless person was coming up and down the lift all-day throughout the two days we stayed there. They were using the bathroom facilities like a paying guest and watching the TV in the bar, even asking patrons for money at one point. Sorry, but this is unacceptable and management need to be firmer on this issue. The reception staff were friendly and provided us with a room on a higher floor, which was nice and quiet. The beds are very comfortable, and the pillows are amazing. On the downside, though, the floor was filthy with stains, the bathrooms needed a refresh, and the breakfast was poorly stocked and not very appetising. Dinner on our first night was a limited menu, which I suspect was due to there being a large function.
