The hotel was well-placed in the centre of Cherbourg with sufficient, free parking. Rooms were comfortable and whole hotel felt modern. The restaurant was also good, although better for dinner than breakfast.

A short stay in Cherbourg. he Mercure is located on the Port de Plaisance and is a short walk to the town center. Very convenient for acceess to shops and restaurants, as well as points of interest.

We stayed here for two nights with our two kids. The location is ideal—very convenient and close to everything—and the room size was fantastic for our family. However, a few issues held the experience back. The parking situation was a major headache. Charging €20 per night for an open, cramped lot feels unreasonable, especially given the state of the spaces. During our stay, debris and sap fell from the trees and rocks directly onto our car, which brought along insects and left it so dirty that I had to pay for a full car wash after checking out. If the hotel is going to charge premium rates for parking, they should at least provide basic shelter. Additionally, the breakfast didn't live up to the standard quality you usually expect from a Mercure hotel. Overall, the stay was fine, but the parking and breakfast definitely need improvement.

This was our second visit to this hotel, 10 years apart. It has an ideal location for visiting Cherbourg. Our room had a balcony overlooking marina and gave a great view of Bastille Day fireworks display at harbour. My wife thought the pillows were most comfortable and provided for a great nights sleep, and would like to know where to buy them. The breakfast buffet food was good but on occasion took time to refill when empty. The staff were friendly and helpful if not a bit slow to understand our requests at times.

I had a very pleasant stay recently and especially want to credit the friendly and helpful staff - Pierre on Check in was knowledgeable helpful and friendly. Later the staff member who was looking after the dining room helped me by getting me a yogurt and banana (it was late, Carrefour was closed, my tummy wasn't feeling good - I was a little hungry but could not face dinner). I really appreciated help help in this situation.

Stayed five times at this hotel, different rooms each time but the same issues with the bathroom. The shower floor is lethal. Thin slippery plastic with nothing beneath it, therefore the floor moves as you walk on it. No hand rail. On a previous stay my wife slipped and fell, she will not use the shower ever again. On this occasion I slipped owing to a crack in the plastic. We are both elderly people, a heavy fall could be lethal. I am really surprised this issue has not been rectified as I have seen other similar complaints in the past

But - we paid over 300 Euros for very uninspiring room along a dark characterless corridor. Breakfast very poor for a 4 star hotel. Evening meal adequate - but very unexciting dining room not in keeping with a 4 star rating. However - all forgiven for the air conditioning during exceptionally hot weather.
