The experience was extremely frustrating with having to fight for your breakfast with a soccer team from Nigeria that did not show any respect for either other guests or staff during their stay. They tried to intimidate me in both elevator and in the gym, threatened me and my customer several times to the extent that we decided not to have breakfast or dinner in the hotel during a week. When we approached your management the only answer we got was that we can check you out and you can go stay somewhere else.. utterly disappointing answer and to be honest, no other hotel chain in the world would treat their loyal customers like this!! I will also send an email to the management of Novotel globally to get them to understand the lack of professionalism and lack of respect that were shown to your staff and valued clients staying at these premises during this time. This could have been handled better and you will need to train your staff and local management on how to handle the hotel when a team from a third world country visit (i.e organise a separate room form them to eat in to not disturb you normal guests.. We paid full price for breakfast and room and we could not even eat breakfast half of our stay due to these guests.. I expect an apology from Novotel as this is below standard what was going on during our stay.

Have stayed at the Novotel hotel for 10 weeks the last 4 months on business. I found the experience really below standard the last 3 weeks for the following reasons: 1) the Nigerian soccer team was staying at the Novotel. They were allowed by the Novotel management to intimidate and make it inconvenient for other guests. We were forced eventually to have breakfast and dinner at other restaurants even though we paid for breakfast. The Novotel could have set-up a seperate eating area for this large group of people to allow guests to enjoy their breakfast in peace. The Hotel management allowed the team’s disrespectful management team to take-over facilities like the dining area, the lobby and gym and simply push other guests out of the way. I was even threatened by one of their management that they know I attend the gym in the mornings and they will wait for me there tomorrow morning. This occurred after I complained with the hotel staff about the conditions at breakfast due to the disrespectful behaviour of this team at breakfast one morning. The players were simply pushing guests out of the way to get food. Novotel management simply replied that they recommend that we eat breakfast in our rooms while they are struggling to cope with the visiting Nigerian team. After this we (Metso) decided to ask our driver to take us to an outside restaurant for breakfast. We also decided to join an external fitness centre. Metso also tried to put us into a better hotel and I believe that Metso will think twice in the future letting their Executives stay at the Novotel hotel. 2) I had to move rooms because the shower and basin taps in my first room on level 10 were not working. Over the last four months it is quite evident that maintenance of the hotel facilities are not up to standard. During our stay we witnessed the lift fail and an aircon suffering from an extreme water leak. 3) the internet is not the best at the Novotel, the last two days the internet didn’t work at all. The restaurant staff is very friendly and it was really disappointing to witness how poorly they were treated by the Nigerian soccer team management. Again the Novotel management really managed this situation very poorly.

My wife and I love to travel together... it's a matter of connection and partnership. And we've been loving Novotel hotels for a while. We even tried other Accor hotels in the last years... and Novotel branch is just what we consider necessary: not as simple as Ibis, not as fancy as Sofitel. Novotel just feels like home for us: room clean and spacious, nice simple but well designed decor and furniture, always nicely put bathrooms, and of course, excellent beds. And yes, as we love our cup of tea at any time, a nice kettle available in every moment. Novotel Sorocaba was a bit of a "trust in the brand" bet: the website photos are ok.... just ok for my taste, as a former professional photographer. In the pics the room looked a bit on the small side... quite far from the truth. Guess-measured, probably 4.5 x 5 meters. Very nice indeed. Our feeling from the moment we entered the room was: this feels nicely familiar, after staying in a few other Novotels and loving Novotel London Wembley. The mood from the hotel lobby is nice, modern (a bit trendy in a good way), super welcoming and without super formal desks and staff. For us, a "young adult (at least at heart)" couple, exactly what we needed. And if you know Novotel, you know the feeling... lots of nice details but in a comfortable and not ostensive style. On top of the nice arrival/reception/sleeping experience, the breakfast was very very nice. All the products are well chosen, with great quality and nice variety.... nothing too fancy, not the number of choices you'd find in Sofitel, but very very nice. And of course, the great bread selection/quality you get in a french-DNA hotel chain. We really felt like the breakfast was the proverbial "icing on the cake" in a memorable weekend in Sorocaba's region visiting a horse-breeding farm. At least for us, Novotel stays as the prime choice for "home away from home"... highly recommended!

Novotel Sorocaba was a nice enough business hotel. What I didn't like was: 1. Poor elevator maintenance - right lift call button on the ground floor was not working for all three days I was there, left-most lift did not need keycard to go to residential floors (safety and security of guests?!?), middle lift did not have a working "3" button. These were repeatedly mentioned to hotel staff. 2. Impracticality of bathroom door design in my room. Just silly half-doors that block the hallway in the room. Please just fix this whole thing, perhaps with a sliding door and do the same for the toilet door (also seemingly designed by someone who never needed to use the room). 3. Windows let too much traffic noise into the room. 4. Provide at least one 110V shaver point like a normal business hotel. 5. Provide on request (for sale if necessary) Euro or US to modern Brazilian N-type plug sockets for power. Every other hotel in Brazil seems to have old-fashioned Euro or US plugs, so it's probably a mistake foreign business travellers will make. 6. Breakfast refills (Nespresso capsules, eggs etc) did not happen pro-actively, guests had to run out and request them. 7. Perhaps put Nespresso machines in the rooms. It would be kind for business travellers like me. Staff were friendly, breakfast was ok. Price was ok.

I had, what I would call a standard room with King Size bed and additional Sofa Bed. Knowing that check-in always takes ages, I used the online check-in provided by Accor this time. Well, the check-in process took the same time so that more and more people cued up behind me... When entering the room I was welcomed with a smell of fungus... Opening the window helped some. Since I experienced such smell during my last stays at the Novotel already, I knew that there are no other rooms without that. Very obvious the smell is coming from the fabric of the sofa bed due to frequent changes of indoor humidity and temperatures (shower is pretty much right in the room and air-condition Isn't running often). The best would be to not offer such sofa beds in the future due to potential health risks of your guests!. Other than that, staying at the Novotel is very much driven by the kindness of its stuff.
