I have been an experienced traveler to Vietnam with 5 tours since 2015. Stayed in countless hotels from budget to premium upscale hotels and I have to say Hotel Des Arts Saigon is the best of the best…..period! Why? Let me start my explanation. My wife recently quit a toxic job and was feeing rather down. She was unemployed and stressed. Job hunt was also brutal given the poor economy in Brunei. Me on the other hand, I had my own reason as well. I was poached for jobs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Interviews took place and was awaiting for an outcome but the war in the Middle East frustrated my chances. I was gutted because either of those opportunities would have been life changing for me. I then suggested to her we go on a holiday together to enable both of us to clear our minds and also we think it may help us both reset our Feng Shui. We shortlisted a list of countries and eventually agreed on Vietnam due to past overal positive experiences. I chose Nha Trang and on my return, I wanted to make the trip special and memorable for my wife. It was between Sofitel Saigon and Hotel Des Arts, I chose Hotel Des Arts because of its uniqueness and on first impression I knew this hotel will deliver the experience I want. I kid you not, it did! I arrived late because of a delayed flight and the moment the doors opened. Whatever I have seen in photos look just as good as in person. I had to wait a little while for someone to check me in. Eventually I dealt with the Night Manager, Vu, he checked us in and we had a decent conversation like real friends and he recommended local eatery nearby that locals go. Escorted to the room by Van and he gave us a tour of the room. Again this guy is just so hospitable, felt like talking to a old friend, he recommended local eateries that he goes. I took note again and marked them down. We later went down to Vu’s recommendation and throughout our stay went to the other places recommended. That is a hallmark of an excellent hotel. It is the people working there. Now, the room upon first impression, made my wife jump around in excitement like a child. From losing her job feeling gloomy to her jumping around in joy. She was very impressed with the room especially the suite. It made her happy. I took note of the intricate details the hotel did for me, for example, they gave me a free Bordeaux wine. That has never happened before and again I am impressed there. We settled in comfortably and slept well. The following morning, we experienced the breakfast at the lounge for the first time. I have to say the staff all well trained to observe the guests. They react fast and can sense whether a particular guest needs assistance. They will come swooping in to assist. Enjoyed the fresh juices and the ala carte menu. Very exclusive menu and the dishes I ordered were all excellent. Nothing to complain there. Did not go for tea-time throughout my stay. I did go for sky lounge on one occasion for a round of drinks and some snacks. Again same consistent service we got as breakfast. The only disappointment for me was actually the swimming pool. My heart sank when I saw it. It is not as good as it looked in photos. Not as wide and long as I wanted but at least it is clean and temperature was just nice. It was incredibly windy though and had to secure loose items. Overall, this is the best hotel I ever stayed in Vietnam. The quality of service and attention to detail is second to none. I will speak highly of this hotel to others and will recommend they stay here. I will certainly like to return one day. I did also make it a quest to try some of the other Accor hotels. I say thank you to the ladies and gentlemen of Hotel Des Arts Saigon for making out trip special and memorable. It succeeded in cheering me and my wife up after our setbacks. I will remember this hotel for that.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we spent most of the time in our hotel room. We did have interaction with several staff members, and they were pleasant and great to work with. The room was comfortable and we made it work for us since we spent so much time in it. The maid service made sure we had plenty of coffee, tea and water. I received emails upon my departure, but they are all in Vietnamese which I do not speak. They appear to contain my invoice. I tried to return them to get them in English, but they did not get to where they needed to go.
