Having arrived in and departed from Vienna by rail, the Novotel was the ideal place to base our exploration of the city. The hotel is modern and clean. The rooms are a generous size and well equipped. The staff are friendly and helpful. I’ve no problem recommending it to anyone.

Check-in and -out was very smooth, staff were professional and really friendly, overall the hotel and room was very clean and it was also nice to have the mini bar included and refilled daily. The only improvements were the memory foam mattress which wasn't as comfortable and the wifi was extremely slow and hard to connect to.

It was excellent especially when comparing to other hotels we stayed throughout Austria. We were swiftly checked into our room which is a huge bonus for me. Spa and terrace was satisfactory and big plus. Room was clean and tidy. The staff at the reception are excellent people too.

when i book the booking was pre paid and at check in he want me to pay again. i told him my bank deduct amount. he told me no worries we are big company we wont do 2 time paymnet. at check out i followed with reception. the answer no worries. finally i found now booth amount is deducted! even thoigh i raised my concern twice. i dont know why i have to pass through all this inconvenience.

After reviewing the reservation, we found that your booking was received only a short time before your arrival. As a result, the advance payment associated with the reservation had not yet been processed and reflected in our hotel system at the time of check-in. This unfortunately led to the impression that payment was still outstanding. Following your stay, it became apparent that the original prepayment and the payment processed at the hotel had both been recorded. Please be assured that this was an administrative issue and not an intentional duplicate charge. The duplicate payment has already been reviewed, and the refund was initiated today. Please note that, depending on your bank or card provider, it may take a few business days before the refunded amount becomes visible in your account. Besides the small issues I’ve noted at the bottom of this message, we had a great stay. Everyone on staff was so lovely and Very helpful, with perfect manners, courteous, and so friendly. The male bartender (who works afternoon and evening) as well was one of the best guys. He filled our ice bucket and offered us a smile literally anytime of day. Our room was ready 5hours early upon arrival, and the facility seemed well maintained and efficient. The location was great too, and the large bath towels were some of the best I’ve ever had at a hotel, and made me feel like I was at home. My only complaints are that the shower gel was empty in my room shortly after arrival, there was a lot of dust/dirt surrounding the window frame/edges (so I was less hesitant to pursue fresh air), the pillows weren’t soft, and the sheets were scratchy. Small soft product details, but certainly all easily fixable things that would put this property in the top hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Thanks!

The WiFi was good unlike for some of my colleagues but I could hear the sirens and trains despite being on the 17th floor. The free mini bar isn’t that exciting as there is no wine etc. and the shampoo wasn’t great for my hair. The service at the restaurant was very slow. Other staff was nice and helpful. The location was good.

On arrival at Novotel Wien Hauptbahnhof, the receptionist could not find my booking. He showed no graciousness and tried to send me away. He told me there were many Novotels and I might be at a different one. I showed him the business email with the booking. He appeared to scroll through the whole email thread. A woman colleague came to help and shouted "Das ist so dumm" (That is so stupid) when she found the booking under my colleague's name. They looked shocked when I said I understood. The woman then mocked my colleague's Slavic surname. The next morning I tried to charge my phone, using my usual travel adaptor. Before I plugged it in, the moment metal touched metal, long orange flames came out of the power socket. All the room electrics failes with a loud thudding noise. I was terrified that the fob door would be sealed shut but luckily I could open the door. I went and told reception staff. They did not apologize or ask how I felt. They did not offer a refund. They said my adaptor was probably 'illegal' in Vienna, so I handed it over. They called a technician and asked if I wanted to go up to the (unsafe) room and wait for him! I said no, and went to have breakfast. I was stunned and horrified and forgot to ask for a receipt for breakfast. I need this for business expenses. Nobody told me if the electrical fault was fixed. So I went and checked. They could not change my room because the hotel waa full They smiled and told my (white/European) colleagues that I could have a retrospective receipt for breakfast. When I asked for the receipt later, they did not smile, did not give me a receipt, and told me to email (I look 'foreign' and definitely was treated less smilingly). I have emailed twice. No reply. I phoned the next day. I was told the email had been forwarded and I would get a receipt. I still have not received an email response or a receipt. Really I think my colleagues who made the booking should be refunded for the room and I should be refunded for the breakfast. It was horrible to see fire The breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the location was convenient, but the flames out of the power socket and the general lack of staff welcome or responsiveness were disappointing and frightening. I wanted to love Vienna...this was my first visit...but all this spoilt my impression. I still hope to hear from the hotel.

We must commend the team, including Adam, Patrik and Antonio and all other staff. Being from from Australia, platinum membership was not recognised. We ate in the hotel three times and all meals were very nice. The room was comfortable with a lovely outlook. Being so close to. Wien HBF was an absolute bonus giving easy access to trains, buses and trams. The city centre is only a three stop train trip away.. Would love to visit again.

Great stay in Novotel. Very good breakfest, I do not recall seeing so many options elsewhere, all fresh and tasty. Good starting point for exploring the city. The room recommended for 4 guests (2 adults + 2kids) was quite busy. Next time will choose bigger one.
