I cannot understand how thus hotel is 4 star. Although the staff are friendly, the decore is dated and tired. Furniture changes can be seen by the old dents in the carpet. The restaurant is a joke! I have seen better selection at a road side café . Not worth the price, or 4 stars. 2 or 3 at a pinch.

I stayed at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel for over a month whilst i waited for my new house keys. I can honestly say, Nina, Steve, Tia & Poppy each went out of their way, above and beyond, on multiple occasions to try and make my stay as comfortable as possible, and they did exactly that. I am convinced my stay that was around a very stressful time would not of been the same if the above named individuals were not on the front desk. I am very grateful to you all and you all serve the hotel very proud. I’ll be popping in for a chat when passing. Keep it up!

As Christmas party nights go this lacked any party atmosphere and the food was ok at best. It wasn’t the most expensive option so I guess we got what we paid for.

My first stay at The Great Danes was over 45 years ago and we have visited dozens of times since then. We have had parties, afternoon teas, we stayed over for Christmas Day one year and now I am attending a wake. Every time we have visited the Great Danes over the years we have had a great time. I have just finished my cooked breakfast and I can honestly say that of all the places I have stayed around the world, for me, it is absolutely the best. Thank you for keeping the place and the people so special.
