We have stayed in this Mercure hotel several times before. The hotel seemed well organised to be COVID safe without spoiling the experience. The restaurant meal was very good as was the service - including Ernest who has served us on previous occasions. The second night Tee (Teagen?) served us a meal in the bar area and was teally o0n the ball and worked hard to give us a good experience. The reception staff were not so on the ball. The WiFi speed in our room was virtually non-existent at less than 1mbps!! I asked the receptionist to help me as I had a Zoom called later that day - she said she would look at what could be done and get back to me. She never did and I had to find my own solution which was inconvenient. So there are two problems/opportunities here to firstly improve reception service, and secondly to ensure fast WiFi speed throughout the hotel (which is easy in this day and age).

Had a lovely night away with what we hoped to be a spa day included however due to COViD restrictions we were only able to get one hour in the pool and the beauty place, massages, facials, sauna and steam room were unavailable to use. This is totally understandable however the voucher claimed that we would have full access to spa facilities (despite having explained closures due to COVID-19), which did not happen. Little bit of false advertisement, despite this, the food was beautiful and delicious and the room was clean and enjoyable. Just a shame about the pool and that it isn’t managed so 12 people were in the pool at one time despite COVID-19, felt rather unsafe in the pool but had a wonderful time elsewhere.

While we didn't receive all of the information that would have been useful to know when we arrived for our stay (e.g. how to use the pool, obtain towels, order extra tea and coffee and information about the fact that the room is not made up daily at the moment), whenever we asked questions, the hotel staff were helpful. The staff were mindful of social distancing rules and attentive in the restaurant.

My self & my daughter had a good time. The room was vey comfy & clean The pool was good. Sad that sauna etc wasn't open but understand why. Staff were very kind & helpful Restaurant staff was great at serving. The pizza was delicious. The Breakfast was amazing. The menu was very limited & the dishes I chose were a bit tasteless. Needed dressing on the salad & seasoning more. Didn't feel there was enough choice for fussy eaters.

Communication between the staff wasn't great, wasn't booked in for dinner, as reception hadn't notified anyone. Ordered chicken tikka, and found a bug in the meal... sent back and had a burger given free of charge...

I was photographer at my cousins wedding on 1st October. The staff were really helpful upon arrival and all throughout the event. They were thorough with Covid Rules and the venue was well signed for human traffic and social distancing. The food from both the venue and main restaurant were absolutely gorgeous. I can not begin to thank your staff enough for their quality service, cleanliness and just pure thoroughness throughout these times. A very big thankyou to Amanda and your restaurant staff aswell as your reception staff.

Staff were friendly. Overall looked clean but found bottle top and two bits of chocolate on carpet in room. Restaurant menu very limited although food was quite nice

We enjoyed a relaxing break for 2 nights. The bed was big and comfy and the room was warm and cosy. The waiting staff (an Irish Chap) was the highlight of the stay for us. He was ever so friendly and seemed genuinely concerned that all our needs were met. He went above and beyond in customer service and is a true asset to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for him! The only downfall was the set menu, that was part of our stay deal/promotion was very limited and the same for both nights. We had hoped for a Sunday roast to no avail. Slightly disappointed that the company in charge of the treatments didn’t reply to my emails so we did not get informed that treatments were unavailable. The only Spa facility that was available was the heated swimming pool that we had to share out hour slot with a family. No sauna, even though it advertised it on the website. The hotel is clearly signposted to help regulate government Covid regulations and the social distancing was well established within the building with seating in both the bar and restaurant. The decor was a little damaged/dated in areas but not enough to cause discomfort. Would we go back? Possibly, but not as a first choice.

The staff were all friendly and helpful ( especially with information as to get from A to B ). The room was clean and comfortable. The dinner was nice, but the breakfast is very limited. I don't eat a cooked breakfast and the only way I could have more toast was for the staff to have to take it from another plate...hubby's !

I was very disappointed as I booked it for a Freinds birthday and wasn’t told until a few days before that we wouldn’t have access the the facilities only the pool. The pool was filthy This was advertised as a spa break but yet we was t supplied with a robe or slippers so had to walk from the pool to our rooms in a towel as the changing room was tiny. The staff there however was very friendly especially in the eating area I would call it a restaurant as such.
