Was charged for parking even though reception said it was free

We stayed in the category of a Privilege room, which would appear to have been recently refurbished. The amenities, such as Bathroom, Shower, TV were very good, however the room was soulless. By this I mean the room was a plain tone grey, with no pictures, or character, also no carpet. The advertised King Size bed was two made up single beds and pushed together. Apart from a small unit for items to hang, there was no further storage space, so nowhere to store jumpers etc. The coffee station is located in an unlit corner and had no cups and the tea mugs were to large to fit under the machine. Within the fridge we expected two bottles of water and orange juice and chocolate bars, however only one was provided apart from the water. This was rectified when pointed out at reception, however with two people scheduled to occupy the room we feel that we should not have had to point this out. I should add that we felt the reception, bar and staff in general were very welcoming, accommodating and helpful. As a Silver category client we have enjoyed many Mercure hotels stays in both the UK and Europe, which is why we were somewhat disappointed with the newly refurbished room.
