Unfortunately the room I had booked proved to be unsuitable for my needs as there is no lift in the building. We were provided with another room that met our needs. Hotel is well located for visiting Chester. Reasonable bar menu. Nothing special, but OK for a short stay when not spending a lot of time in hotel.

Well located albeit a tricky entrance to get in and out of on a busy road. Rooms were clean and comfortable if a little jaded. Food quality was good although no light breakfast option as an alternative to the full one. Staff are pleasant and eager to help but generally let down by the constraints of an ageing building that needs a bit more TLC to bring it up to what you’d expect from the Mercure brand.

Having stayed at the Mercure Earls Court I was surprised at how dated this hotel was. The room was clean but my bed moved across the room when I got into it. It was either very cold or very hot. So didn’t have a good sleep. I found the staff indifferent and having to pay £12 for a bowl of porridge and a cup of tea was a bit over the top. The food was good but lacked variety. No one was dressed for work everyone just in ordinary clothes. This hotel needs a lot of work to bring it up to Mercure standard

We typically receive very positive feedback regarding the hotel team so it is disappointing that this was not your experience. The front of house team wear a uniform of chinos and denim shirt so understand why you may have felt this represented 'normal' clothes, the intention is that the uniform is comfortable.
