The room was quite gross. The sink smelled of sewage and had some disgusting gunk all over the drain; the coffee machine was covered in a layer of dust and residue, and the bed sheets were ripped. Truly appalling.

We usually choose Novotel because of the consistent quality and service, but unfortunately, this stay fell short of expectations. On arrival, check-in was smooth, and we left our bags in the luggage room. The receptionist advised that the bar was open at 11:30 am, but when we went to the bar area, the staff member was dismissive and informed us it would not open until 12. Later, we were told we had been upgraded, which was a pleasant surprise. The room was acceptable overall, but there were hairs on the carpet, which was disappointing. The biggest issue was the noise outside throughout the night, which made sleeping impossible. Breakfast was also below the usual Novotel standard—much more basic than expected. At £235 for one night, the experience did not feel like good value. Thankfully, this was not our first Novotel stay, or we would hesitate to return.

The sole reason of booking this inner city hotel with my two children was for the family room and swimming pool. On arrival I had to request sofa bed being made up with bedding and pillows. Then on attempting to use the pool I was informed it was to be booked in hour slots and then upon our time slot the pool had to be closed! Very frustrating and disappointing when travelling with two children 9yrs and 6yrs old
