This would've been an '8' rating review rather than a 3 if it wasn't for the fault that occurred: both nights of a two-night stay, the room TV switched itself on in the middle of the night. Bright white screen that lit up the room. First night was around 3am and we eventually got back to sleep, but the second night was 6.30am and that was me then awake for the day. TV hardwired into the wall with no power button to switch it off to stop it reoccurring (I was very close to ripping the cable out the wall second night). To their credit, the hotel and hotels.com who I booked via resolved the situation to my satisfaction without any drama, but that simply shouldn't have happened in the first place. However, the hotel itself. Great location for Liverpool city centre - couldn't be any more central. Q-Park carpark adjacent was easy to use although not the easiest to navigate to due to road restrictions. Standard bedroom comfy and clean, not the biggest but more than fine. On par with a Premier Inn for quality etc. No views whatsoever from the rooms. Swimming pool and sauna a nice bonus. We ate breakfast both days and all good: clean tables and crockery, food properly hot and not just lukewarm like you often find with buffets. Good quality food too: brilliant coffee although the fruit juices very watery. Even without the disturbed nights issue I'd probably stay elsewhere next time. The bonus of the pool isn't enough to get away from not having a view. Hotels down near the docks are less hemmed in by other buildings so I'd look there instead. Or possibly the Novotel at Liverpool Paddington Village to avoid the drive into the heart of the city.
