the room was incredibly basic, with cheap lino. Not what you'd expect at that price range. In the evening I tried for 5 minutes to get the shower to heat up and gave up as it wouldn't get above luke warm. It was fine in the morning, but I wanted a shower after my travels. When I checked in I asked if there was a gym or pool and was told no. Then on google I found out that there is a pool, so why was I lied to?! I also had to drag my bags up the stairs as I was told there was no lift. That's an absolute joke. I stayed there ahead of my hospital appointment regarding a knee replacement, so was not expecting to be put through the pain of having to do the stairs!!

Last minute booking. It’s well sited for lots of nice towns etc. our room was great, but it was near reception and therefore rather noisy due to 2 evening events. Breakfast not exciting but more than adequate. Very good about us having dogs. Near lots of places to walk them. It’s a bit faded in places but reasonable value. Good WiFi, toiletries, coffee etc.

The highlight of my stay at the Mercure was my interaction with Steve at reception upon checking in. Steve was extremely warm and welcoming and showed a genuine card and interest in me as a customer, even once check-in had been completed. An exemplary display of customer service. My room was adequate and the room service satisfactory, a comfortable evening all round.
