Looks better than it is

While the hotel is well presented and the staff are very friendly, there are a number of reasons I never wish to return. The car park has a number of big concrete pillars rendering most of its few spaces both too small and hazardous to wing mirrors. The signage is also confusing. Park elsewhere. The nearby station car park is a good price for a single night stay and also has a usable pair of charging points. Once inside it becomes clear the decor is more style than substance. Corridors are stuffy and low-ceilinged. The room presents itself much better initially, but overly soft pillows led to an uncomfortable experience. The sound of flowing water through pipework was constant, along with a flashing light from a sensor in the ceiling and this combination plus the noise of the air conditioning to keep the room cool enough (it was far too windy to open the window) meant I slept very poorly. Breakfast was pleasant enough but not really very coherent either on the English or Continental side of things. Nice croissants.
